I don’t know why, but this little voice is telling me that there’s something different about the ‘73 from the earlier ones.

I remember I guy with the user name of Ground Up over on Pirate 4x4 back in 2004 looking for one of those for his ‘73 and telling me it was a one-year-only thing.

Indeed there is a difference, one zigs the other zags.

I'm not kidding.

Thank you Ryan. That is a very useful photo. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen that part, even though I’ve parted out a couple of ‘73s over the years.

SOR had that listed for $36 a while back, I don't know about availability.

I sold it to someone who had been searching for a while.

Production year changed in 9 of ‘72 with the bucket seats and ignition switch in the column, yada yada. But you have to be mindful that there were lots of mid-year changes as well, like the hardtop glass/ws in 7/71, or carb linkage in 2/73.

When in doubt, consult the parts books. Then again, even they are wrong occasionally. That’s part of my job security. ;)

Apparently there is supposed to be a rubber grommet/stopper mounted in there also.
