That is the issue @ragingmatt that i recently purchased the fj40 from a couple that wanted to cruise around town in it but they both had medical issues and had to sell and after taking it home and doing some cleaning and polishing it seemd to me its was a nice ruff jewel and it ended up being very complete and original 10/72 fj40.....

So in the proccess ive been correcting and trying to put it ti its original state and this is one of those issues

That is what ive been trying to figure when i was replacing the front cowl air vent seal and drain hoses/gromets in how you opened that vent

do u know which one it its ?

what ever the end result is is u absolutely want the period correct part ,

@pardion seems to have a viable choice

all depends on your Pro date on your Door Jamb DATA ID plate

And this is were im at, i was doing some research yesterday and figured out that on of th po had chopped off that lower portion of radio opening and took of the rod ........but at this moment i like the patina and originalty that ot has and im keeping it this way

Well if i come across the one it should take at a resonable price yes... but it if i find one from a year older or newr ill go with that

key is having that triangle bracket for the vent pull

that stopped in 1974 ............i think o_O
