Looking for rubber steering rack bushings, too much feed back in steering from polly

Just updating this, since I recently did mine. The raised portion on the stock bushing goes front to back on my 2000 LX. You can see it as I was pushing the bushing out.

Arrows on top pointing left and right, parallel to the rack.

I install the same way. But I've wounder if steering would stiffen just a tad, if turn so rubber bump out to sides (parallel).

Did you manage to get rubber OE style pressed in, with rack in the vehicle?

Edit: added more details and edited for clarity.

I did, no problem. I was doing the whole front end so the tie rods weren't attached to anything and gave me plenty of wiggle room.

I put them in from the top and used the big washer and bolt to pull them down. They pulled down with almost no effort. I had to put some washers as spacers under the rack so I could pull the bushing all the way through the rack.

I feel the OE bushings fit tighter and had bigger flanges on the top and bottom to hold the rack tighter. You can see the new bushing doesn't fill in the space between the top of the rack and the big washer as much as the OE did. I can move the rack up and down on the bushings easily just by prying lightly with a screwdriver bas a lever.

New bushing vs old bushing too an bottom flange comparison.

You can see the OE are fatter and wider at the flange. The new ones have a narrower outter diameter to the flange and are tapered or chamfered on the top/bottom of the flange.

Found the Febest TAB-042 steering rack bushings and ordered a pair to try. They look closer to OE. Febest gets mixed reviews, but $20 for a bushing that looks much closer to stock is fine with me.

Some online Asian retailers have them in bulk, but also list all the dimensions of anyone is curious.

Those are not the correct ones, these are. I got these from re-builders. One set from here in Denver the other a seller on ebay out of CA.

@2001LC do you have a link where you purchased these bushings? I just called CVJ and they are no longer selling just the bushings. They recommended Ployurethane, but I'd like to stick to the rubber if I can source them. Checked ebay but didn't see them either. Appreciate any help.

Edit: I should have specified year. '99 LX470. I also should have searched eBay a little harder...found rubber ones in the link below from Lithuania. Looks like the proper shape, but quality is likely questionable.

Let me know how those look?

I'd like stiffer rubber, than those from re-builders!

Here's the ebay add Guy's a re-builder out of CA

On the older style racks is there any issue using a poly D bushing with the OEM round bushings? I forgot to order the D bushing when replacing my rack so I just put the Whiteline poly in from the old rack. Thinking about if its worth it to swap it our now.

If it's squeaking as poly sometime do yes, otherwise no.
