ALPS Mountaineering Extreme 3 Outfitter Tent
I picked up an ALPS Mountaineering Chaos 3 Person tent a couple years back. Excellent tent, fast to set up, quality construction. The end of the poles clip into eyelets at the corners of the tent. The ground cloth specific to the tent also attach to the poles so everything stays together. I'd highly recommend adding it to your tent. If the Mountaineering Extreme is built as well, you will be very happy with it.
I've imported a few quick pop-up tent, similar to oz tent. The hardware is a little beefier and the cotton/poly ripstop canvas is a little heavier, 9 oz rather than 7 oz. it lacks a couple bells & whistles like the power cord opening and pockets for guide ropes. The first pic is the Q5 (similar size to RV1) $495 (compared to $1,030) and the next is the Q6 similar to RV5 is $625 (compared to $1,400). Both include the side panels. You are right. I'm cool spending $250-$300, but not $800-$1,000
THIS! It took my wife having too much to drink before bed on a frigid and drizzly night to agree with me that a big tent for the times we'll be in one place for days at a time would be a good idea. Now...to get her on board the Lug-A-Loo-type idea.I want any tent I buy from now on to be tall enough that it's easy to get in and out of and stand in to change clothes, plus I like the idea of square to fit beds or bags in easier
No website. I've spent my entire life camping and hunting, and disappointed with cheap Coleman tents and over priced expedition style. I've taken my experience and what I like from a wide variety of other tents, and designed these two. The tent is based off of a RTT and the Australian 30-second pop-up tent. It sets up quick, but the awning might take you an additional 2, maybe 3 minutes. The Q5 is only 68" long, so I can put it in a compact SUV, perfect for solo or just the wife and me. The Q6 is 82" long, but will still fit inside my FZJ80 or on top, ideal for family camping or extended hunts with a couple of friends when we want a bit more room.I am interested in those q5 and q6 tents. Is there a website where i can check them out?
Everything fits in one bag, Q5 is 68" x 18" x 8", and the Q6 is 82" x 18" x 8". The bag is supposed to be waterproof, but I believe in redundancies, so when the tent is folded-up, I make sure the waterproof "bathtub floor" of the tent is up when I pack it if I carry it on the roof.Beau Diddly - Have you got a close up of the canvas? Curious as to the material. It's a
9 oz canvas, is it treated? Do you have a pic of it all rolled up for travel?
