Long range fuel tanks

I'm sure it has happened, but has any member asked a shop overseas to do a group buy and a bulk shipment? Its my understanding that the shipping is what really makes this cost prohibitive. Maybe if we can get 10 or so members onboard we can share the cost and get some tanks.
LOL interestingly just this morning I emailed Long Range Automotive about one off and group pricing for their auxiliary tanks;) The auto-reply said they were closed until Jan 9 and i'll post here when/if I hear back.

When I talked to Front Runner a few months back they said they could not sell into the USA - hopefully LRA can.

@ih8everything - what company was that quote from?

I contacted LRA over 2 years ago, dang. Their response is below. Note that the AUD has fallen against the dollar, and that it is a short drive for me to get to the port to receive the item.
----------------
Yes, the 160ltr auxiliary fuel tank fit in place of the spare wheel. The tank retails for $1300.00 AUD
Sea freight to Los Angeles Port is $375.00 AUD

Best regards,

Paul

I'm working on a line of tanks from Australia, NOT LRA. If I combine shipping with my Tough Dog orders the shipping cost per tank will be around 65$ each.

Still in the works, but will know more in the next month.

Expected tank capacity? Will it use JDM filer neck (which I already have) or proprietary?

Outstanding, I much prefer buying one from you than trying to figure out shipping stuff from Australia!

And I can wait a few months for details as there is no way I am taking on another project in the middle of our coldest winter in decades, I've still got that suspension to put in! (diff drop tomorrow, rear this Saturday, at least front shocks before the meet on Sat.)

I am interested in one too. Please let us know the particulars when you have them.

@reevesci count me in for one!

Very interested, @reevesci

@reevesci Very interested

All,

I'll have full specs shortly. It will be a complete turnkey system. With my other future custom cruiser offerings I have to get a larger fuel and also a water holding supply for the 100 series.

I'll let everyone know as it progresses.

+1 Very interested!

I recently got a quote for the 180 liter replacement tank. $1300AUD for the tank and $500AUD shipping to Port of Oakland. So in USD that's about $1300 total.
You could practically ship a 20' container for $500 from AU. Maybe even work out something with one of the US distributors of ( OME, Ironman, Whiteline, TD etc) to squeeze that into a container in one of their shipments? FYI- Best Westcoast shipping ports for competitive price are Longbeach and Portland.

And since I'm right near Portland I could help inspect/coordinate the customs and loading onto a truck for you... no more than one box would "fall out" during that process I am certain;)

If you get a chance, can you post a pic?

Yup - 1" BL and flush. I'll be fab'ing an aluminum skid this summer. Unfortunately the 2UZ with 155L tank has the same range as my 1HD-T with 75L! Only one way to fix that.
