Aisin hubs have been ordered over the AVM due to the smaller size.

Do you know what the original application for the Aisin hubs are? I'm curious about the strength.

Thanks for sharing and discussing your efforts. I too have tossed around the idea of converting to part time and will continue to follow this thread. Cheers.

Non-US 105 series Land Cruisers. 10mm hub studs vs. 8mm hub studs.

What Beno said

I'm not concerned with strength, every drive system has a weak link. I dont know for sure but if its the hub Im OK with that. I plan on carry a spare drive plate like i have done with my 80 P/T set up running Aisin hubs. Its wheeled much harder then 99% of 100 out there and never an issue.

Keeping one of the old drive flanges on board is a good idea. I would imagine the Aisin strength should be fine if it's OEM on diesel engined manually shifted rigs. Will you change the studs or hog out the holes on the part time hubs?

The Aisin hubs ordered are correct for 10mm studs, no mods required.

I, too, am very interested in this, as I would like to do the same on my LX.

I did not see an answer to an earlier post:
New? Do you have to cut a ring on axle like 80 series?

Does anyone know the answer? If the answer is 'yes', how hard is it to cut the ring and how accurate does it need to be? (I am assuming this would be to hold a snap ring on the half axles?) Could I do it (with a small grinder or dremel) or would I need to take it to a machine shop?

If you are using the AVM hubs that come in the kit, 100% no on needed an additional groove, Same goes for the 80 series using AVM hubs.

I plan on getting the Aisin hubs... Forgot to mention that in the earlier post...

Were you able to confirm the correct hubs were sent?

Yes the hubs are correct. I have emailed and talked with ~10 Aisin hub providers in the US and AUS and I have yet to have anyone tell me that hub or any Aisin hub will fit an IFS 100 series. :meh:

WANTED - 100 series axle stub donated for research :rimshot:

Have you contacted this guy?

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Freewhee...er-78-79-100-Series-43530-60130-/300938096411

He says they work on a 100 series... (update: After doing some more research it looks like they are for a 105 vice a 100, kind of confusing on his eBay page...)

---------------------

I also found this link on Pirate where a guy was describing some of the different Aisin Hubs:

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/suzu...ility-converting-samurai-lockouts-toyota.html

---------------------

I have a set of the following on my 4Runner:

http://www.offroadsolutions.com/products/aisin-hub-lockout-kit/

It says they fit a Tundra & Sequoia as well, not sure they would fit a 100 series Land Cruiser, but if I can find some time this weekend, I could take one side off the 4Runer and try it on the LX...
