Finally finished the ARB/Warn bumper-winch combo...quite a flying in the dark effort, but we got there!

I've got a good bit of oddball hardware that I bought with the combo from Slee and have no clue how it all fits together...the interwebage hasn't helped much. I'm pretty sure I need to pre-load the line when spooling...anybody have any experience/hints etc?

I usually use a tree in the yard. Have someone sit in the truck, put it in neutral and lightly apply brakes as you spool line in.

Dont wrap it neatly coiled like a steel rope, it will pull through into the lower layers under load and be impossible to freespool out. Wrap it more haphazard/ criss cross. You will have a bit more room on the spool because it compresses.

I pulled Moonshine at Logan's Run up a slight incline to preload my line

I've not heard that before. That would produce kinks in the line. If it's properly preloaded, then the lines won't bind when neatly coiled. I neatly coil my synthetic line when preloading it and never have an issue free-spooling out.

You know I have had the synthetic stuff to bury itself between coils before. All it took was a little tug to get it free. I usually do a "meh" job at re-winding my synthetic line. I'm not anal about it and it has never been an issue.
