nice surf. ive got a few more photos in my woodhill album on here

hmmm, today i replaced alot of my vaccum and water hoses etc as some were crunchy, i figured this would be a good reliability mod and money well spent.... now according to my boost gauge, ive gone from boosting 7psi with about a 8.5psi spike, to boosting 10psi with a 11psi spike?! what gives? :hhmm: whats the 'standard' boost these motors are supposed to run @?

if you had any lines that attached to the cross over or intake then the pressure 'could' be released to the air. seal the system and the boost goes up.
usually stock they are running between 8 and 10 lbs max... but then who knows what a previous owner might have done under the hood...

hmmm not sure, it seems to be even higher than 10-11psi . i checked all the wastegate lines and its working, so its not freeboosting, unless the wastegate isnt working properly eg. rooted actuator. the photo shows how much it was boosting on the hiway today at about 115kmph at 3000rpm in 4th, sorry about the quality i was concentrating on driving haha :steer: i dont think ill bother fiddling with the boost now. ill just leave it how it is depending on how much pressure drop i get thru the intercooler.

yeah pritty much flat maybe a very slight uphill, was about at 3/4 throttle. i never rev the motor past 3000rpm. thats the max it boosts though, i was foot flat up the harbour bridge today and it was boosting the same, around 11psi, i go over it everyday for work

hummm, to create that much boost you need some serious load placed on the engine.
what is your fuel economy like?

not that great, not that bad eather. i dont really know the km/litre for it i just put gas in when i need it lol, i keep setting the trip when i put gas in on empty but then forget to check it. where i live has alot of hills though. i get about 6trips at 35km each out of $40 of deisel at $1.68 per litre? i fail at maths

6 X 35 = 210 km
40 / $1.68 = 23.8 L
23.8 L to go 210 km = 24.6 mpg which is the rate of fuel comsumption we have found with the KZ and LN series in Canada.
MPG Fuel Consumption Calculator - eForecourt.com is nice and easy to figure out fuel mileage.

so its getting pritty average economy then?

so its getting pritty average economy then?

That's just about right - that's pretty much what I used to get out of mine with the 31'' road tyres on it.

With my 33'' muds, it would drop, but not by much. Off road mpg? Cr4p lol

haha ive not done enough off roading to suss out my MPG then, but i imagine it would be turd lol. the diesel loves hauling the 2 tonne lump over stuff haha NOT. heres the intercooler im using, just removing the plastic LHS pipe (it unbolts from the top tank) and put in a straight flange then cut down the RHS pipe and use some sillycone joiners. and do the tedious task of getting in there with some tweezers and straighten out some finnage.

nah, we do nto get those vehicles here (unless they are under a different name) so chances of finding one will be slim but thanks for the offer. appreciated

yeah i think only japan got them the ones we have here are few and far between but i think there all grey imports. if you wanted one i doubt the frieght would be much to frieght sumthing little over, i bort the thing for NZ$20 so like US$14

If you have any R32 Skylines over your way you could fit one of their factory coolers that they usually throw away when upgrading, this is with a 2" body lift and would be tighter without it but should still fit plus heat soak from the engine would be a problem when slow 4WDing.
Will need both of them from the skyline (1 on each side), then swap over 1 end tank (gently prise back tabs then push back into place) so you have the same shape end tank on both ends facing different directions.
Used to have it on my factory 2LTE (still factory head) running 11psi pushing the A343F auto ...

nice job DJ, yeah im in NZ we have R32s, ive owned 2 lol. i was thinking about using a skyline core but didnt know u could flip the end tanks like that and i didnt wanna pay 2 have the flanges moved etc, there a dime a dozen over here n u can get them for like NZ$10. ill post a thread for my intercooler job once ive got all the bits, ive just gotta get the silicone elbows

After allot of reading and mucking around with my truck I'm finding myself with the same 4wd problems as boostingLux. At first it sounded like clicking cvs but I'm thinking it may be the auto locking hubs. By the time I got to the top of the hill I was in complete rwd. 4wd was still engaged. Any ideas? I'm trying to avoid locking front diff.. LN130. 2L. 2.4dt
