Just recently got my LJ back from the shop, and for some reason my transfer case doesn't want to engage the front diff. It worked perfectly before it went into the shop (locking front hubs, then engaging H4 etc..) so could it possibly be the vacuum system? I heard somewhere that the transfer case is hooked up to it.

Yes, it is vacuum operated. Solenoids are on firewall by brake booster. What was it in the shop for? Maybe they disconnected something or knocked it loose and didn't reattach.

Lack of vacuum is usually the culprit. You can do a simple test by swapping the hoses on the solenoids . If it connects the front diff you know its that other line or solenoid is bad.
