I think the MIG is more Amateur friendly, That being said, I don't think any brand 110 volt welder is strong enough for suspension bracketry welding.

I have a MIG so that is what I use. I've tried stick, and just can't do it. Bottom line, I will weld on anybodies junk ... as long as their life doesn't depend on it.
I was of the same opinion until I purchaesd a 110 volt Hobart 140 and got surprising results. That is 5/16 wall tube and it penetrated really well. It does a good job on the thinner frame material as well.
