Love it!

Have had zero issues with it, I'm into my second oil change. So about 7k kms. Average has been 16.78mpg, that may not seem too impressive but every tank I have run through it has had a good chunk of slow off road or city driving. With the 1fz loaded with a rtt I would be lucky to have averaged 9mpg with it.

Truck is off the road right now for some maintenence. None to do with the engine. I'm swapping in a rust free....er rear axle housing and spending a few days under the truck descaling the frame. Then the plan is to cover it all with chassis saver then a Paraffin wax/oil mix. The inner frame rails have been thoroughly washed out. I then vacuumed out all the larger junk that could not be washed out the small drain holes. I plan to spray fluid film inside the frame and cross members. This should slow down the rust and hopefully stop it (wishfull thinking). at least it will be much easier to deal with from now on. Just need to get through this nastiness.

I have also ordered a Power driven diesel air filter to build an air box around. The air box will be connected to snorkel and have a removable deck plate likely for road use so I don't suficate the engine.

I'll post pictures of it once I get started.

Glad to hear it's running like a champ. Have you been playing with your adjustable fuel plate at all or did you find the sweet spot and just leave it? I'm still on fence if I want to invest it the same thing but wonder how much I will actually change settings.

The AFC live is well wOrth the small cost, it eliminates the fuel plate actually. the adjustment is only limited by the overall fuel the pump can deliver and it will deliver far more than our trucks can handle. I can actually adjust it so precisely when driving I can go from 1250f EGT down to 1230f EGT with my foot to the floor going up a mountain pass it's amazing.

I have it set now to a safe setting till I get my turbo boat issue sorted out. I'm still limited to 17psi for some reason. It's not a fuel based issue, I think there is something up with the used he35cw turbo.

Shoot the bottom with some fluid film while you're under there.

I figured you would! Are you going to POR15 the housing before you put it in?

Started taking the back of the truck apart today. I soaked the underside down with Simple Green then took a pressure washer to everything. Made a dent but still have a lot to do.

Reason for the newer rust free rear axle, I'm not sure how much material is left on the pumpkin. There was 1/4" of rust scale.

How I finished the day axle free, rear bumper off for extensive weight reduction and DIY penitrating oil on all the fasteners that will need work over the next week.

My skip leg day submission.

New housing is getting coated in Chassis saver. I have not been overly happy with the area in the back of the truck that got POR15 5 years ago. Most areas are very rusty again dispute the correct prep.

Two evinings worth of stripping and descaling and it's ready for chassis saver.

Brushed on the rusted areas then sprayed on the rest as a second coat.

Body rust repair...... :(

Axle housing all ready to go as well. 3 coats on high wear locations.

Got a bunch more done today but did not take pictures. Will tomorrow and post.

Got the rear axle back under it. Everything is connected and got torqued at ride hight. Need to connect drive shaft and put axle shafts in, would have put them in but did not have the paper flange seals. I'll need to get thoes from Toyota tomorrow. Brakes need to be bled but I plan to delete the ABS as it's useless now and I want better braking.

Once I got everything back under the truck I started patching the body. I got the patch welded in and ready for paint. I the looked at the rocker and things went down hill fast. I hate the LX450 cladding the s*** covers everything so you can't see what's going on under it. I need to remove the rock sliders and then the rocker plastic cover to really see what is going on. We have an arctic front blowing in and I was not dressed for the temp drop this afternoon so did not get any of that done.

Looks like I'll be working on this for longer than planned.

I have to do some research to see if I can put a diesel in my 80. I might have to wait until I'm out of CA. I figured my super charger will help fund the swap.
