Hey y'all!
At the forest service meeting last night, one of the topics brought up was being trained. A few of our fellow clubs have a requirement to their members that they take, and pass, the Tread Lightly! online course first. I would love to see ONSC get to the point of having all of it's members trained, even those who think they know it all. I took 45 minutes out of my day to take the course online this morning and got a perfect 100 and a cute little certificate to go with it. Training has a negative connotation associated with it, that individuals think they know enough and do not need to further educate themselves. But, what is wrong with learning more? Whether it be the Uwharrie OffRoad center 101 class, or the quick Tread Lightly! course online..we've strongly suggested you take the time to learn as much as you can, to do as much as you can to teach others around you.
Thank you and happy studying!

I will chime in here.

Yes it is the same one I tried to get the club to do as a whole and have it a important item for joining the club and going on rides. A few of my other clubs have stepped up and they make this a mandatory thing to join. You do not need to do it more than once. it is good for life unless you just want to refresh your memory .

Thanks for posting this .

I do remember taking that little course when you posted it up last year. It's short but a wealth of information!

Wanted to mention this class, it is short notice, but I am going, signed up a long while ago. Should be a lot of fun, cant remember how much it was. They have 2 slots left for Saturday.

When BB was in Uwharrie he threw the LR / Jeep products under the bus.

We were doing the basic training with his group and he was going over all the spares that needed to be taken when wheeling for Rovers and Jeeps and then he said or you can get a Toyota and leave all extras at home. It was pretty funny. There was a 80 series and 4Runner in the group.

Yeah, I have never met him, didn't want to ignite a fire or touch a raw nerve, I just liked his description of 2 foot driving and how to not tear the crap out of our trails, like unfortunately so many do (you know who you are, and if I am elected to the BOD I will publish your names and photos in a wall of shame on the website).

No,wait, that's not right, I did wanted to ignite a fire, it was an act of Satan like I was talking about in the other thread. I claim no responsibility, it was all the bad guy!

Yeap. That was me, 2wd on the trails At Jeep speed.

As a good friend of Bill i will say he is a fun guy to hang around and listen to his stories. This summer i will be working along side him every chance i get. Much better than the last crew i was with. He respects you.

Good luck Saturday. I will be working on the trails and encourage all that can please help on the trails.

I heard to expect to get stuck quite a bit, might remove the plastic wrap on my tree saver!

Wanted to share some pretty cool stuff I learned yesterday. Now I need someone to create an app for this, I can create an excel macro, but won't help with tablet.
