We have a full year to bring this into reality. What we need is a banner ad, a page with the rules, and a paypal button :bounce:

Why do I get the feeling Gumby would win (unless Ty hacked in to make sure he wins of course)?

man, i never win any of those things. I can't even get a TLCA pencil.

I would be in on an FJ though. I say make the raffle for $10K more and modify the bastard before giving it to the winner. I volenteer to modify and test drive it. :)

heh heh, I've been posting to win somthin here forever and still no luck...

I agree. the FJ should be modified and taken out on a sanctioned event then raffled off right there. This way everyone at the event has a chance to win.

FJC - "Wrench a Thon" TBA ;)

Thats a cool idea, I'm in for $100. Woody, set this up the members have spoken. :)

Not a bad idea, the biggest issue is going to be finding a third party to handle it because I promise someone is gonna claim whoever won did so because of who they are or who they know.

Also how are you gonna do tax, tag, etc for a car and what happens if the person in charge of buying it lives in WA and the person who won it lives in FL?????

I didn't win s*** :flipoff2: , probably never would either. Though for 100 bucks I would be probably be willing to try. There are alot of issues to work through on something like his though. Sorry some of us aren't in a position to up and leave at the spur of the moment. New car tax, tags, travel, lodging, etc costs could also be an issue for some....

How do you collect the money... paypal, ok but they take a % of any money you collect and with that sum there are probably going to taxes on it too.

Honestly the BEST way to do this would be try to get Toyota to donate the vehicle in exchange for whatever money we raised going to a charity or something. They probably would be reluctant to do so for such a small group of people but then you wouldn't have some of these issues. Maybe they would consider doing so if you could get a couple of clubs together to do it. Plus then they could use the publicity and probably right off the cost of the vehicle in the name of a donation. Maybe even an individual dealership would be willing to donate one, if the raffle covered their invoice on the vehicle and then the rest went to a charity.

Where are all the lawyers on this board?? What are the legal issues dealing with setting this up...

s*** i bet if you talke do to some one at toyota and got them to look at the TOYOTA site of die hard toyota fans with as much use as this site gets you might even be able to get them to throw one at us for free to raffle as a publicity stunt. Jeep used to do that all the time hell they even gave a fully customizd jeep (looked just like the tomb raider one) to the winner of a down hill race. Id bet they be willing to do something for it.

any update on this? ive talked to a bunch of cruiser guys (some not on this site) and they said they would be in too could even make it for 200 and id still be in

I'm in for $100. I am not sure where the charities source the vehicles, but in the back of the Autoweek mag I get there are always a couple raffles. They offer one entry for $100 with a maximum of tix sold of around 850 - 1500 depending on the quality of car. A 25k car raffle was the 850 tix max and a 50k car was 1500 tix max sold. One is for a seeing eye dog charity and one is a foundation for people with disabilities. I've also seen one for the restoration of an old theatre. So it sounds like the $ needs to go to a charity and the vehicle is either donated or deeply discounted. Hope that helps.

Don't miss out - on this once in a lifetime chance to win a modified, trail tested FJ Cruiser---
-----> Operators are standing by ---->post NOW!

ya, I know ya want it 'trail tested' but....

don't 'buy' it until winner is selected.
The 'buy' it thru dealership closest to winner . . .

Winner will get schtuck for tax/ tag /title and INCOME TAX LIABILITIES . . .
It's da IRS liabilites dats liable to hurt da vinner . . .
the value of the prize is 'ordinary income'....da vinner migh even pay a penalty for not pay'en da fair share ( yea, right, Fair Share) thru out the year...

BUT not withstanding the above HS, I'm in !

I'm interested and willing ......get the details ironed out and post it up.

For me to drop $100 per ticket I want to know the number of tickets to be sold and after I WIN IT the cost associated.

If you need someone to collect the money I can also do that. :D

It would be very simple to start i8mud Inc as a 503(c) charity. Here in KY it would be around 50.00 to start. The charity can then collect the money, distribute 10% (proffits made on the deal) to a wilderness charity or something of the like. I set up a Blues Society under the 503(c) so that we could take membership dues, pay bills etc.. Very easy and simple. Rules can be decided, with the input of this board, and then made available and held standard throughout the drawing process. The vehicle would be purchased by the charity but not titled i.e. the winner would title the vehicle in their name in their state and be responsible for any and all taxes associated with the transfer. Pretty simple really.

I could/would help if you like. We have raffled off 10k guitars before so this is very similar.

Starting to like this... Lets keep an open mind - the more we toss around the particulars the better the chances this wil fly.

Thanks for that input - Jukelemon - you might be called upon for a favor- this is just the help we need.

What type of rules should we include here?
