Couldn't find anything on a search. Has anyone flush mounted led lights into your rear bumper? I do a good bit of nighttime kayak fishing, and having good light on my trailer would be ideal. I'm thinking of getting these lights and cutting into the bumper and flush mounting them. Then, running to the battery and having a switch beside the vent window switches.

Anyone know of a good switch that would fit that opening?

The FJ cruiser aux light, or roof light switch will fit in the vertical switch blank. It should fit in the horizontal switch blanks too, but may look funny turned on its side.

Just be careful of the actual dimensions of the eBay switches. There are two different sizes that look the same in photos.

Example: the left of the steering wheel in a Tacoma vs the center below the hvac controls in a Tacoma. Left of the steering wheel are larger and the ones that fit our blanks. Both of the FJ OEM switches fit our blanks for sure.

I'm kinda thinking if I run it directly to the battery, it might be a good idea to put a timer on it so that if it accidentally gets turned on, it won't kill the battery. I can find a 5 minute 12v timer, but I'd want something like a 10-20 minute timer. Any special wiring I'd need in this setup?

You're welcome. That thing has so many applications outside of what it was designed for.

You could wire the to your reverse lights and a switch, just add a diode in line off the reverse lights.

I paid way too much for that horizontal switch(button) to be shipped from Austrailia. I think $50 total. The verticle one was only $15 on eBay.

Currently undergoing that project. I have some light stripes on the receiver hitch and so far I've just soldered the diode and route the power wire to the load wire. Will be installing the switch tomorrow.

Thought about that, but it's not good practice to be behind a truck in reverse with no driver.

I agree, I just meant they could be used as additional illumination when reversing without having to manual bump the switch every time. I agree with you and that's why a switch is a better option for actually using them as an auxiliary light source when working in the rear. I am thinking more for avoiding the elderly at Costco. ;)

Crap! If this thing wasn't built so well, i could install these lights. Unfortunately, there's not enough room between the bumper cover and the frame for these lights. Plan B: find a 6" flush mount led bar to go where the red reflectors are on the bumper. Plan C: cut a hole where the reflectors are for these lights. I'd prefer something to be the same size or bigger. Guess my hunt is ongoing.
