Quick question for the folks running the HIDs retrofits, are both your high and low beams HIDs or just the low beams converted to HIDs?

Not currently running them but planning on getting some in the future.

Morimoto Mini H1's from The Retrofit Source

Solid product but talk to 2000UZJ if you really want to know more about these, he's my resident expert.

Already replace my timing belt, water pump, etc. My OEM headlights work fine and I live in Texas and do a lot of back road night time driving. Just my personel prefference to not modify something electrical i.e. trime plastic off a light or re-wire something that is working fine right now. If I could just go buy a HID or HIR off the shelf that would just plug in I would do that. I have done a lot of my own work to my rig just not a big fan of messing with electrical stuff unless it has to be done. Again personel prefference.

I really can't believe that don't make a light that just plugs right in? What is the reasoning behind that?

DOT compliance. The "mod" to the HIR base is trimming a 1/8" off a platic tab. Takes 30 seconds. They do that so you can't just drop it in the standard socket. The HIR bulb is a normal 55w, so there's no change to the power of the truck. However, the lumen output is higher. It's not "holy crap I can see 10 miles at night" higher, but it's better.

So... the question still remains... are there any LED light sets on the market that would fit the LC100?

Maybe but as 2000 said, leds will not work properly in the 100 halogen headlights. Just do a retro. Only way to go imo.

You do have to modify (file or dremel the tabs on the HIR bulbs to fit in the light slots). It's pretty minor, you can see what you have to do here. http://store.candlepower.com/mohirbuba.html

I've been happy with my HIRs. I got Philips one's off amazon. But you can get them through John Deere also. You will be buying 9011 and 9012 bulbs (for low and high beams) to replace the stock 9005 and 9006. (I think it goes 9011 for 9005 and 9012 for the 9006). I believe on the LC the low beam bulbs are the same as the fogs. I believe how it works is that the filament.

Price on amazon I think is just for 1 and not a pair FYI.

Hey dogdays, I just got these HIRs thru candlepower, is the lamps' part# etc the same as the Philips you ordered off amazon? I actually ordered HIR1s thru the above url then cancelled as I got concerned that the amazon vendor blurb referred to them as "standard" bulbs. Candlepower was $52 to my door, amazon $42 delivered.

So I recently picked up my new to me 03 100, and the guy said he put HID's in. True, when you start the truck, you can see the bulbs "flicker" on start up. I popped the hood this weekend, and there are ballasts wired in on both sides. I can't see any stickers on the ballasts though....any way to identify what these are? So far, I'm pretty impressed with the qualify of the light. NIGHT and day compared to the old 80 series I had. That one got brighter when you stepped on the gas....but you still couldn't see chit.

Post a picture of your lights against a wall. Your hids could be oem densos or ricer $30 hids. Take em out to find out for sure. My 80 isnt as bad as you describe yours but it still sucks.

HID conversion

To start, Hi all, i am new to this forum, currently have a euro spec hdj100 ifs pretty much stock.

I have been doing a lot of researching regarding retro fitting HID lenses, bulbs and ballasts.

I came across this picture, now when you look at the picture try to forget the rest of this hideous thing and concentrate on the headlights. I don't think its the best looking, but it is one way to deal with the whole HID issue without cutting into original headlights.

Common internet issue...

What you see cannot be un-seen.

I installed HIR highs and lows last year in my 2000 LC and like them alot. The only problem is that my daytime running lights now look dingy yellow. Does anybody have a part number of a bulb that I can replace those with so that they will look like the headlights? I know I can disable them but dont want to. thanks

nevermind, that was a dumb question, the running lights are the high beam bulbs run with less power to them, they dont look as white with less power so that threw me off:doh:
