IH8MUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just had replaced (for the 3rd time) the front seal on 22re. and guess what still leaking at high rpm's, so does any one know how hard it is to install a repair sleeve over the crnk shaft & do I need any special tools........ thats what happens when you go mudridin:steer::bang:

I know there's a speedy sleeve available, but don't have any experience with them... I'm pretty sure any regular auto parts store can order one for you.... (Look for the crusty old guy that works at the store..... he should know... :D)

Take some pics and let us know how it goes!

:grinpimp: The answer to all of life's truly important questions is finding the old crusty guy in the proper context.

Yes, sleeves are available and not hard to install. Are you installing a Toyota seal or an aftermarket seal? I used to swear by the aftermarket seals since they were thicker and seemed to cover better. Then I woke up one day to another damn leak, and installed the dinky Toyota seal. I've been completely leak free for years now. The front of my engine could not be drier. I learned my lesson.

been using aftermarket seals, but now i'll try the fac. seal thanks for the advice! I'v paid a guy to change this thing twice $100 each time ! think he saw me coming? so this time i'll do it my self . not gonna learn if you don't try

You may find that removing the radiator will help a lot with the room issue.... :D and if it's safely out of the truck you won't punch a hole in it....

That works. The other option is to remove the oil pump and install the seal on the bench. It's easier to set the seal without the crank in the way. I do recommend you get a new oil pump o-ring ahead of time. You can also use RTV with the old one.

Jump in there Truck MD  You may find that removing the radiator will help a lot with the room issue.... :D and if it's safely out of the truck you won't punch a hole in it....

second that! it will also be a good time to wash out all the mud out of the radiator fins while it is out of the truck
