Leaking Sunroof - Major Frustration

There is a natural spring under my dash when it rains. No water leaks when I dump water down the drain holes.

My solution will to seal the crap out the sun roof and pull the fuse.

If it's under the dash, it's usually the windshield. If it's down the pillars or seatbelts are wet or pouring on your crotch, it's the sunroof.

It leaks where the clutch would be if I had one. I sealed the outside of the windshield gasket with no reduction of water flow.

Maybe the leak is from somewhere else. That is why I am going to seal the sunroof. Was thinking of using one of those removable sealants that you put on house windows and remove in spring

Sounds like you need to squirt some adhesive between the weatherstripping and the glass and weatherstripping and body. <---- You have to do both

I know you say you don't want to spend another dime on your 80, but I hate to see an 80 go neglected. Hell you might even be able to find some cruiser guys in Colorado that might want to help you out with a wrenching day this spring and knock out a bunch of these loose ends.....

I only did the glass side. I see the error in my ways. Sunroof is not too leaky, especially after removing that leaf blocking one of the drain holes...

Dash components shorting out after filling up with water sucks.

Hi all,
I have a FJ80 that has leaks from the sunroof despite the drains being clear. It's obvious that the seal is shrunk up, and the additional clearance is allowing too much water past and overwhelming the drains. I found the post in this thread about stuffing wire in behind the seal. I had already been thinking of this as a solution. Instead of wire, I used nylon cord like brick masons use. and it works great.

I wanted to add this to this thread so that someone else may benefit.
Hi Vicoor.. hope you can post photos, too...
