Happy New Year :)
I am about to change the bushings on the leading arms of my 97 80 series, 2 failed so far in 452K Km's.
Found the following hint in 2 FSM's,
80LeadingArm_Busings2.webp

80LeadingArm_bushings1.webp

Can anyone advise the reasoning behind this hint............just out of curiosity ?
Thanks

Replacing with oe bushings, with holes centered? No idea why they would suggest an orientation unless they were eccentric caster correction bushings (offset).

Maybe it's something to do with the flex of the bushings? Who knows...

Who knows ?......That is the question.
Any possibility for a more "technical" answer :hmm:

Interesting - I've just fitted new bushes to the right side radius arm (not oem arm) and aligned them all with the holes vertically positioned. 8-) Genuine Toyota bushes though.

You've done it wrong.

Clearly the wampams go in the new orientation.

Well seems so but nobody ever answered the question when it was asked why. I've already fitted the arm back to the 80, still need to do the left side arm if I have time.

Is there a link to Toyota TSB's for 80 series btw?

One out of two aint bad.
