Although Title Sponsor, why is Slee missing from the 200 LCDC’s Event Agenda?
By now people attending are probably wondering why we are listed as the title sponsor but missing from any events. Our commitment to Cody and the crew to be the main sponsor was made way before the Covid situation came about. With Cody’s decision to go ahead, we tried to work around the limitations we have and still contribute as best we can.
I want to start by saying that we are still fully supporting the event both financially and with personnel. Jackson has spent personal time carefully scouting and planning an exciting route to lead participants on during LCDC. Jackson and Amory are also leading three straight days of Trails with two nights of camping to add value to the event while adhering to the States Executive Orders.
As much as we would have liked to buy everyone dinner, and to a do big blow out final event like we have done in all the years past, being a Colorado licensed company we simply cannot do it this year.
I can’t ask my employees to possibly jeopardize their health and safety, to attend gatherings, no matter how informal, that is possibly in contradiction with state and county regulations currently.
I can also not afford to jeopardize our business license, and by implication the livelihood of all my employees, by being associated with said events in the case of the state or county investigating a gathering in a public space that does not adhere to the regulations. We are threatened with losing our business license for as little of an infraction of not requiring customers to wear mask that enter our building. Unfortunately, Colorado does not play nice with these situations as has been clearly shown by the actions they took against Bandimere raceway.
I hope the organizers and participants understand this and please believe me that we did not come to this decision easily. We love being associated with LCDC, we love the event, the participants and the idea of the Destination Club that allows like-minded people to gather in different parts of the country to enjoy the outdoors and the shared passion for the 200 series.
We hope that 2021 will bring a changed situation were we can return and participate fully as we have done in the past.
