LC200 locked with dead battery?

My first thought in the past is getting the linkage from the cylinder into the latch/lock assembly correctly is tricky and past work left that part incomplete, but I've seen this exact scenario so often over the years it's hard to say all of these had work done in the doors.

Sorry you are dealing with this but I'm glad someone that seems likely to dig into the root cause is involved.

Definitely possible, I did replace the lock mechanism when I first got the truck, along with the other side.

Good call. Likely the issue

AAA on the way

AAA worth its weight in gold again

Dude showed up in 15 mins, unlocked door, AND had an interstate 27F with him for $207

HERES ONE FOR THE HIVE MIND AND SOMETHING TO KEEP IN MIND

Ok, battery was toast, I kind of knew that..

Lock cylinder with manual key turned normal and did nothing

New battery in, lock cylinder with manual key now unlocks door fine.

Sooooo…. What in the actual F is the purpose of the manual key if it don’t unlock door when battery dead?

Bizarre

I guess it's only useful when there is something wrong with the fob but the main battery is working as normal?

I had a 2010 (same year as LC) Prius that’s battery died 100% from sitting

Mechanical key opened door right up 🤷🏻‍♂️

If they were designed this way… worse than the 08-18 radiator?

Yeah, pretty freaking dumb

Curious if anyone else can confirm theirs is same

I mean that’s what I would expect. If the manual key can’t open a vehicle with a dead battery then it’s almost useless.

Exactly

Curiosity got the better of me, so I had to test it. I disconnected the battery and the emergency key does unlock the drivers door on my 2013 LC.

Thank you for your service sir

Bizarre

Was your emergency key turning the lock at all?

By emergency key do you mean the one in the fob?

If so, yes, turned perfectly fine in both directions when battery dead, wouldn’t unlock

Once new battery, it unlocked as it should

Maybe a dumb question, but how far was it turning each direction? 90 degrees?

Yes 90 degrees +\-

Dead battery vs new battery didn’t change how much key turned

That’s why I’m puzzled it wouldn’t unlock when bat dead

Seems easiest to remove the PS front splash shield and jump the alternator charge cable, granted you can get in there. It's directly connected to the start battery.

I once had the same issue with a dead battery in my 2014 Tundra. I couldn’t get in using the manual key and had to get a locksmith to come open the car.

I still don’t understand why the key would not work.

Easiest (preventative) solution seems to be test your metal key once a month or so. I am guessing most don't work because either it's a replacement fob and the key was never cut properly or they never get used and lock gets jammed up with years worth of dust, dirt, grime and whatever else. Spray some WD40 or similar in there to keep the mechanism moving.
