I have 260k on mine, no trouble at all. Just drove it 5k miles across the country and back and it didn't skip a beat.

Timing belt and water pump cost me $600 about a year ago. If you take care of it, it will take care of you.

Thank you all. So to sum it up:

- Buying a high miles LC 100 should not be a concern if service records indicate it's been cared for (timing belt, water pump, tranny and axle service, brakes, shocks etc.)
- Putting new 4.7L is relatively speaking less expensive than rebuilding (are all 4.7L V8 engines from 98-06 have same HP and Torque?)
- Title shouldn't be affected if engine is replaced/rebuilt unless state laws say otherwise

the usual out there I am seeing a combo of 2.5" OME, 33s, and ARB front or rear bumper.
. I just bought one just like this .. It's a nice Hundy, Excellent service records , southern truck 2001 with 205,000 miles . to be in the price range I needed to be at I had to have a higher mileage rig. I feel it's good for many more miles ..

I purchased my 99 new and maintain the hell out of her. Head gasket blew at 278k miles and my master brake system at 248k miles. My engine never overheated (that I ever noticed) I still don't understand where I went wrong???? I decided to do a complete rebuild for $4500 local Toyota / Lexus specialist mechanic shop. The gasket just gave up but all the internals where in great shape. With close to 300k miles and my plan for long trips I decided to pay for the peace of mind. I'm 7k miles into the new engine and she has all her pep back!!! My truck has been modified for about 12yrs. 35's 2.5 OME lift front and rear ARB bumpers 9.5xp winch. Gamiviti coming up next (once you start it's hard to stop!). Yes, a used engine would have been more cost effective, but for me the peace of mind and knowing it's all rebuilt means I've got a lot trips ahead.

2001 LC100. I am putting in my third timing belt, 310,000 miles.

350k on mine. I bought it for 2300 with 320k on it and tb replacement done at 312k from the 1st owner. It's got some rust but nothing unsafe at this point. I've probably put 2k into it at this point but $4500 in NE Ohio for a 4x4 with all new suspension, starter, alternator, battery, and tires is a good deal in my mind. All original drivetrain.

just my opinion... and I have built engines all my life and fully understand machining and clearances, and IF it was my only option I would rebuild my own... BUT even with that and ME doing the work I'd still be just as ok maybe more OK with a used 75k mile used engine that had never been into... and save $3k... my DD has a 138k used engine, and my lx470 has a 78k used engine, I've done 2 other that fall in between and never once did I consider rebuilding... all were head gasket failures all caused by split radiators... and all the bottom ends looked perfect... the cool thing with these because of their value even with 300k they are worth the effort...

Purchased my 98 Cruiser in 2003, was concerned because it had 91K miles on it. Fifteen years later with 440K miles on the clock it is still very strong. With proper maintenance These trucks will go way beyond 500k miles in my opinion. Just did a full Brake job last week, bit the bullet and repacked (properly) the same original wheel bearings ( Did order a new set for next time they CAN'T last forever). Have faith, I LOVE my Cruiser.

My 100 has about 280k miles. The last 70k miles it has had a supercharger on it... I enjoy using the supercharger and my understanding it that the previous owners did too. I am not worried about the engine at all. Some preventative maintenance is all I was looking for.
