It was nice and it had one hell of a engine in it.

Hey I found a FJ62 here in covington. Nice fj. Tan in color and it does not look as if it is getting used. If anyone is interested please let me know and I can go take pictures and ask if they want to sell it. Looks stock and most likely was a high school kids driver for it has a local high school sticker in the window. Le tme know, Deryl

Sweet. That would be my vision also. :D

Anybody know or ever talk to the older guy with the Green FJ40 that lives off Ambassador going back in to Fernwood? I followed him home one day just to see where he lived. I've been b ythere so many times just checking on it that I could find the place blindfolded. It seems like I asked someone about htis vehicle before and I was told that he was a professor or teacher. Who knows, I may be thinking of some other cruiser owner. I am beginning to exhibit signs of Alzheimer's.

I've dropped a card on his rig before. I see it all the time. Never heard back from him. That's a DD for him.

I'll do that after I get many, many miles and years out of this one. When it's near death, I'll chop the top, redo the engine and make a crawler with it. Until then, my vision is more along the lines of adding a sunroof and sliding rear windows!

I guess your vision counts more than ours but me and Landry wanna see a working tranny, 35's, 4" of lift, lockers, ARB bumper, and a winch...:flipoff2: (on the front...not the :princess: ) ..and rear bumper/tire carrier/Hi Lift carrier, concert sound, and roof-top tent

lol

I want to see all that too, but small steps bud. Budget sized small steps.

But you forgot the big bumper on the back with the hi-jack lift and the spare tire carrier.

And the tent mounted on the tent.

And the kick a$$ sound system.

Scott, do you still have some pics of that St. Gabriel rig? I have a guy that may want it to build up. I may take him to see it. Theriot, did you say you have the documentation to get it titled?

I got the pics that I can send you, no problem.... let me say that if you sell off that truck w/ the 1/2 doors attached and not in my garage that I'm going to poo poo on your front door step.

lol

...test me ;p

Wow  what did I just step in.

Well I wouldn't want you to "poo poo" on my door step. What kind of sissy talk is that? Will you pee pee with your wee wee too? :flipoff2:

It was the "nicest" thing I could say on mud... this is a family oriented place ya know...lol

You stepped into post 961! Excellent job my friend.

Really, got a buddy that may want that St. Gabriel rig to build on. I was asking Scott for pics and then he threatened me. Sounds like he could go toe to toe with some of our third graders at recess. LOL. Sorry Scott. I couldn't pass it up.

Get that friend signed up with us, any man taking on that job is my kinda a chap. I'll sell him some useless peices off my rig for a locker

Guys, when I had that rig, it was covered. It was NEVER used for anything other than entertaining oil men on a hunting lease. Everything from the wheels to the seats, were original. It even had the original 3-on-tree and Vacuum shift-on-the-fly 4WD, and it all worked. It was 40k or so original miles. Decals on the engine and compartment were in tact still. It is hard for me to imagine how bad it is now. Also, cruisers go REALLY fast in the weather uncovered. There was an imaculate and quite fine 79 FJ40 in New Iberia (owned by mechanic) and well maintain...after the old man died, his daughter began driving to ULL (about 7 years ago or so). She used to park it by Old Tyme Grocery ocassionally. Well, at that time, she wanted 17k for it. AND, IMHO it was worth it. Well, years later, she ended up in New Orleans with it, first A/C broke, she quit driving it, left it out in the yard, and the sun, rain, elements made it look horrible. Next thing, it turns up in New Iberia, by my Dad's house, and Chris sees it and purchases it for $4k. SO, I think I have a good idea about how fast they rot when not taken care of.

Myself, I'm hunting down the FJ25 I saw a few years ago...but after a 1963/64 w/hard top to build AND (yes AND) my first (sentimental) 1974 FJ40 which is still here in town. Sitting in a garage with brand new paint (and factory tailgate...had OEM softop and bows when I bought it)

We need to make a road trip there again but he says that's what he's looking for. I tried to warn him but he seems up to the task. He likes MUD and will likely start browsing its pages for help. I'll get him signed up if he gets that rig.
