Just finished this install today. Great product.

As others have noted, patience and a soldering iron are crucial.

Pics below of the finished install with black carpet.

Oh wow! When you ordered the carpet in black, I didn’t know it was going on a black interior. VERY cool! First black interior I’ve seen in a 6x, and it looks great!

What’s the story on the door panels, and what is the webbing on both sides of the cargo area used for?

Thanks, I am very happy with how it turned out.

The webbing is just bungee cords. I use them to keep gear and groceries from moving around.

The original interior is gray but once I had the BMW seats, tuffy console, and AUS door cards it seemed like just going for it and converting to black was the way to go. I ended up painting the door sills, kick plates in the foot wells, shifter surround, seat belt receivers, and Trail Tailor B-pillar covers black. Everything is still gray from the hvac tubing upwards (gotta draw a line somewhere).

The last piece to change is the seatbelts. Mine are very dirty (and gray), so I have plans of getting them rewebbed using these folks. Just need to find replacement tongues in black. No luck so far at my local picknpull. Alternatively, people here seem happy with the seatbeltplanet.com replacements, but at $350 for the front pair I'd like to see about finding something more economical.

Cheers.

Here are a couple pics of the before...

If you don't sell just the cargo area carpets could it be possible to buy just the fabric so much that I could cut and make my own cargo carpet? It seems to be impossible to find right color and/or look to make my own carpet.

How many shades of gray do you carry. I think I need slate gray
Hey Mark, we cary BUNCHES of greys, but are you wanting the OEM color or something more custom? If you want OEM, we've got a 95%+ match.

Just let me know (be advised that, if you have the original carpet in your truck now, the carpet I'd sell you as a replacement will NOT be the same as what you now have! 60 and 62 carpet was terrible about fading out over time, due to UV exposure and heat. Most OEM carpet, this many years later, is usually a lighter grey-to-blue color....sometimes even approaching silver. That is NOT what your truck originally had. It would have been a rich charcoal grey color that looks great with the interior pieces that usually do NOT fade out. I know monitors all look a bit different, but you can see what I mean in the photo below (as one example, compare that to the photos in post 103 above):

looks great! what color gray did you order from @dnp ?

thanks!
If you're in need of carpet, just let me know what color interior you have, and I have the OEM matches available. It's only if you want something other than an OEM match that we'd need to discuss it.

Thanks,
David

I have a 1988 fj62 with the gray/blue gray interior.... I'm fine with an OEM style match...

Hi David,
Thanks for posting on my FB msg (Ye Jae).
What non-OEM colors have been popular? Just curious.. Mine is a 1990 FJ62 in white, with the blue/grey interior.
What's the current price for this carpet?
I have a bare tailgate door. I think there was a board or insert that the tailgate carpet was stuck onto or wrapped, before being screwed or snapped into the tailgate?
Does your kit include that? Ok.. thanks David!

Hey, did a search on this thread, and the only thing that came up on "soldering iron" was your comment. What's the iron for?ow are you liking that Tuffy console? Which one is it? Also, did you reupholster or replace the fold-down rear bench in black also? Any pics?

Thanks for the note. By far, the most popular non-OEM color picked by folks is black (remember how popular it was in the 70s and 80s for cars with lighter colored interior to have black carpet?). In fact, I don't recall any 60 / 62 owner that has installed any color other than the brown / gray OEM colors and black. I may not be remembering someone, but that's what I recall. That being said, some people have decided to go with cut pile vs the OEM loop pile style.

The 100 series owners, however, have departed several times, using anything from black to dark gray, to silver to tan to dark brown.

I PM'd you a list with carpet options and pricing. Thanks again,
David

The black does look sweet.. and especially if I'm already considering replacing my front seats with the Corbeau seats (in black?).. the black carpet would look good.
Tho.. I'd then be tempted to figure out how to black out the door panels, and the 2nd row bench. I'll let you know when I get it all figured out. Thanks for the quick reply.

To all previous customers (who have not yet installed their carpet) and to all new customers, I wanted to let you know I am now offering - included with your order - a comprehensive installation guide for the 60/62 carpet sets. I should have sat down and written this up long ago, but with some extra time on my hands, and with the knowledge that no other seller provides guidance of any kind, I decided to go ahead and do it.

Some of you have related to me that you are/were intimidated by the thought of installing this carpet, but you'd actually be surprised at how straightforward it is. Yes, you have better results when you're slow and deliberate, but with the guide I now have available, it's a very doable job. Anyway, I just wanted to mention this additional perk I now have for my customers.

Thanks again to the hundreds of past customers and to the new ones who come along every day. This carpet is transformative to your truck's interior, and I'm around 95% of the time for support.

How do we request the installation guide as a previous customer who has still not installed his carpet?
