Seeing these through the years I never saw much of a use for them... but now I'm thinking I'd buy one... They are super useful with a loaded truck.

Very nice of @Dixiedog

This diesel powered 80 logged 35,000 miles in South America with our windows and also has them on another LX450

Anyone using the gull wing window with a fridge, can you access it over the fender?

Yes. It’s the main reason I got them.

Very nice, how about an ARB?

I had a request from a CSC member to post up a picture here. Not the best pic, but the only one I kind currently find. Love the mod.

Thanks for the pic. All of these fridges seem to hinge on the long side, does anyone have an ARB 50 with the hinge on the short side that I could see how accessible it is?

If you positioned the door opening toward the window it would be a slam dunk winning setup, especially if your fridge was installed on the floor of the 80 and not too elevated.

Cool. Thanks. I may end up going the window route then. My wife is only 5'2" and I'm trying to keep it low, yet accessible from the 2nd row, yet still pack the heck out of the rear of the truck.

Okay, that's a little different story then. I know you already have a lot invested in that fridge ;), but there are a good number that have added side hinges to these fridges which would be a better fit for what you are looking for possibly. I think someone also makes a kit to adapt door sling orientation.
ARB Fridge would be cooler if it opened like this.

Is yours the composite plastic ARB or an all metal version?

Yeah, it was super expensive. :P It's the blue plastic one, manufactured Aug 2010. If I could flip the door, that would be great.

My wife is also a shorty. This is what you need.

It folds up flat and easy to store and grab right inside the window next to the fridge. She was not a fan of using the full float hub as her step.

I have an ARB 63 sitting on top of a set of custom drawers and have Gullwings (YodaTEQ...but the access is the same). I can access the fridge from the drivers side Gullwing without issue. Yes it would be even easier with a side opening fridge, but the ARB is still easy to access.

Also note @Mr Cimarron was the FIRST to purchase and install our windows.

Are these able to mount upside down? Would they still seal out the weather if mounted that way? If mounted upside down, would the wing lay flat against the body, ie is there enough room for the hinge to open 180 degrees?

The reason I ask is I was looking for side access but thought it would be nice to have it flip down and use a chain or hook instead of a kick stand. You could then use it as a table or as side rear access.

I doubt it's possible, but if it is, why would you want to? I would think that the height of the bottom of the window would be too high for any useful table and it would ba a PIA to access the inside with a big window panel digging into your chest.

perhaps, but on my current rig the window sits right at diaphragm hieght. Defiantly not a sit and eat table, but I see utility in using it as a place to stand and work on a lap top, set drinks down or plates of food down, you name it. I always seem to be short table space and I got two tables I take. I am also 6’3, so a little taller than the average person, but you are right about it digging in the chest. That’s why I am trying to figure out if it lays flat. I imagine fender flares would not allow to lay flat.

Pretty sure I have the first and only set in Japan!

Yes you are correct being the only Gullwing windows we have shipped to Japan...so far:)

Nice clean install:clap: Gullwing window looks very much at home on your cruiser
