Yes they did, Gifu Body(who also made the 45LV) did many of them for local use in Japan, not sure but kinda doubt they made them for other markets.

i have had 4-5fire trucks but how ca you tell if they are actual Toyota product,they are different from other EU domestic cruisers, here is a chassis number and a the truck,was it built like this by Toyota?

Hi there

Yes most of the fire trucks in Europe are almost the same as the regular vehicles but the chassis numbers have a different format, and spec is different like BJ40/45 are all 12volt, which makes me think they may have been made that way by Toyota rather than being modified by a coach builder

Well they were not toyota built but there were a heap in the NSW RFS. (New South Wales, Rural Fire Service) and the current cat 9's are current shape landcruiser utilitys. I had the pleasure of manning one up untill about 2007, when it was sold at auction.

Most were HJ45/47 cat 9s (often called strikers) which had a 200 or 400L tank and a pump. + big cupboards for hoses, and tools.

There was a HJ47 troopy in one of the communications units untill the start of this year!
And the very last HJ47 cat 9 (front line fire truck) was retired to the Australian National Museum!

Check out the youtube video

And this is the current cat 9, new V8 Diesel Cab Chassis landcruiser - These things go like stink!

I believe one of the CCOT posters features a 40 rescue vehicle, but I am sure it was just add on's-neat though! Oh, and of course a very cute girl!

maybe the trucks that were to be converted in Europe were shipped in more like a cab and chassis.

Or it may be the one with the low # VIN may just be a low # VIN, it appears to be a 1975...so 1st year of the H motor, also still using the 74-early doors.

And one from Oman that may or may not have been used to fight fires (but at least it looks the part):

I don't want to change the subject "did Toyota ever make fire trucks or where they made by coach builders ?" but I'll do it anyway;

Did Toyota have a hand in these, what I call, "short bed" BJ and FJ 40's or are these all DIY projects?

These pictures are from all over the world and some are looking very the same.

Hi.

Pretty sure all the short ones are just 40s with a 45 pickup truck cab stuck on them by the owners
