I don't know what you're referring to exactly...but there are no coupling nuts.

I tried. It won't come out without dropping the exhaust. It'll get dealt with eventually, when I either have the exhaust apart for some reason, or when I get extra motivation to cut the thing apart. (which is much less likely than the first option)

The tube inserts for your front lower links look like giant female hex sections. I dunno.

For the cross member, I wonder how mine came out. I think I may have removed the section on the driver side that has flanges between the cat and muffler? I don't remember but I do remember thinking it was heavier than I expected. I had to cut a bolt off on the driver side for some reason too.

Ah, OK...I wasn't paying attention to other things in the pic, besides my trans crossmember. :)
Those threaded inserts are DOM tube, tapped 1.25-12, with two wrench flats machined on the end.

That's what I thought, which was the only deal breaker for me on that radio. The old FTM350 (or 300?) was a similar form factor to the 100 but for whatever reason they discontinued it. oh well.

Well, turns out I was 100% wrong. This IS a dual-band radio, and will APRS. (so I guess I need to figure that out at some point...)

This could change things for me! I like the form factor of this faceplate better than the 400. I was under the impression that you couldn't passively run APRS while still communicating on the other band. Can you confirm that function works? If so.. the 80 is gonna get one :)

Can not confirm as of yet--need to RTFM first. :p I'll try to find some time today to do some of that.

Well, I just read through the manual, then downloaded the Advanced Manual from Yaesu's site, then downloaded the APRS edition manual...holy crap, this thing can do a LOT. (which I will almost certainly never use)

In the end...I still don't know the answer to your question. But I have a hard time believing anyone would operate in APRS only, with no talking or whatever. So--I assume it will do what you want.
