I always wanted the stripped G Class Professional that Australia and Europe have; this is a Toyota’s version and I really like it.

Man. This may have just sold this particular model to me.

I'm curious about the bad stereo, though. Wonder if this base-model stereo is more easily upgradeable than the JBL ones. There is, of course, no information yet online about what the speakers are in this, if there's a stock amp somewhere, etc.

Wiring diagrams should be in TIS.

MIke,

Please post a pic of the center console storage with the lid up. The First Edition has the cooler so there is not much storage room. They repeated the 200 problem, but at least there are LC250 trim levels without the cooler.

I purchased the First Edition yesterday but really haven't had much time with it yet. Storage is definitely not a strong point. I had no idea other trims levels were available yet.

Thanks, enjoy you new toy.

I thought the same thing about storage. It seems like all the GX550's I've seen have the cool box that looks like it removes all the storage space up front. Where will people store their collection of change, pens, pew pews, receipts, etc?

When I first bought my 200, I thought the cooler would be useless frippery. But I’ve found that I love it. Particularly on long road trips, I always have cold bottles of water within reach, and I don’t have to lug around a cooler.

On the 200, there is a separate upper storage tray above the cooler, so more than enough storage. I haven’t looked to see if the GX has the same.

Does the cooler run when the vehicle is off, since it has the hybrid battery to pull from?

My immediate thought on the cooler in the console was when I am at the river and put my phone in my console on a hot day, I wouldn't come back to the truck to see a thermometer on my iPhone because it overheated lol

What temperature does the cooler actually maintain on a road trip?

I have a 200, so no hybrid. The cooler on my 200 doesn’t run when the car is off. I believe the cool box is cooled by the AC system, so I doubt that the 250 cooler runs when the vehicle is off. But the cooler is well insulated, so it will stay cool a long time. We take my 200 out on the beach every year and even at the end of the afternoon with my truck sitting in the sun on the beach, with the windows opened, the water in the cool box is still cool.

I’ve never measured it but it is nice and cold. Perhaps not quite as cold as a fridge, but close.

I think it's part of the AC system.
CoolBox doesn't make a lot of sense for me as I have a fridge in the back seat on an independent aux power system. I'd prefer that to be an accessory that I could opt out of, though I think the days of going to the Toyota dealership, and selecting every option you want, and none that you don't are over.

Console cool box in the 200 uses the AC and a fan to chill. It doesn't get very cold, I used a remote sensor probe with an accurate DVM once to measure, and on a warm day it never got below about 45dF, even after running for over an hour on the highway (unopened). Good enough for waters on the road, or to get that fresh fish or steak home you just bought from the local market.

I also have an NL fridge/freezer on-board, but I know how impractical that can be for families. I keep waters and Kind bars in my cool box. The drop-in tray you can get on Amazon is a great way to reclaim a lot of that lost storage.

nice, actually sounds pretty effective to just prevent snacks from turning into soup on a hot day on a road trip or quick stops..... candy bars, fruit, sandwiches or whatever. 45 degrees is pretty good if the rest of the car when parked climbs over 80 degrees.

Probably good for MOST people on a common road trip outing.

That NL Fridge looks like a beast though!

I thought the heated steering wheel and coolbox were useless frippery before I got my 200. My opinion of both changed quickly.
100% agree on both the heated steering wheel and cool box. It is one of the main reasons I'd select an LC/GX over the 4Runner. Love using it on a long road trip in the dessert where I can keep multiple bottles of water cold and at my finger tips.

I see lx600 in the background. Can you compare it comfort, drive, acceleration wise?

Different experience. Size is very comparable. Obviously the LX has nicer materials, stereo, etc.

Acceleration is better with the LX; feels more solid when driving at speed. But it isn’t that much better accelerating.

LX sounds better and is overall more satisfying.

I kind of consider the LC to be an I4 pretending to be a V6 and the LX a V6 pretending to be a V8..

Nice shot of your new LC and that Nori LX peeking out beside it! I am going to test drive a First Edition tomorrow at a local dealer. Will be reporting back here with my thoughts.

Well no test drive for me. I didn’t even get to look at that one. Sales guy called me when I was en route to the dealership saying someone just bought it. I did end up stopping by another dealer on my way home to look at a FE in Heritage Blue they had in the showroom. It was also sold so not able to test drive but was able to poke and prod around inside and out. Have to say I thought the overall fit and finish was nice, and actually not too far off from the new GX for what it’s worth.

Definitely prefer the center stack and dash layout in the LC over the GX. But GX wins in the rear with no battery bump. Upholstery, switches, door panels, etc are all pretty much on par just with the Lexus having some slightly nicer materials sprinkled in.

Still need to drive them both.
