Two options from Toyota for 1FZ-FE engined 80 series trucks in NA:

3 core brass: 16400-66040 (8/1992-1/1995)

2 core aluminum: 16400-66081 (1/1995-1/1998).

Both are available from Toyota.

Both are T.Rad (Toyo Rad).
Does the 16400-66040 bolt up to and fit a 97 the same?

FWIW, the 2 core aluminum has better performance than the 3 core brass. Lots of threads on this.

I know but I could not find an oem 3 core 16400-66081 available for sale online. I used the oem 3 core brass in my stock 94 and it held up just fine during the 100+ degree Texas summer. I did not take it off road, however.

For future reference:

The 16400-66040 radiator has a three-row brass core (painted black) with plastic top and bottom tanks.

The 16400-66081 radiator has a two-row aluminum core (unpainted)
also with plastic top and bottom tanks.

Both radiators will fit all (ATM) FZJ80 model years but the alumimum cored radiator is lighter and cools a bit better compared to the brass core.

Does all that sound correct?
