I spoke with a BFG representitive last night and he stated that at the tail-end of this month, the 285/70R17 size KM3 will be shipping to tire distributors. I’m seriously debating making the switch as I’ll be swapping in the new suspension and wheels in early June. Just wondering if I’ll actually be able to get my hands on a set of 5.

Who else will be considering this version of the mud-terrain for your truck(s)?

I literally just ordered KO2's at Costco for my LC. They aren't even here yet. Did the distributor give you any idea of changes? Perhaps I should cancel and wait...

The BFG rep disclosing a firm release date on KM3’s is the internet version of Bigfoot. I’ve been told so many different dates, I gave up. If I go hybrid MT, I’ll probably get the SST Pro’s.

Humble apologies - I think I may have introduced some confusion here. Based on numbering scheme, I had mistakenly thought the successor to KO2 was KM3. The KM and KO are separate lines of tires.

If you are interested in the KM3 why didn’t you order the KM2?
KM2s are waywquiter and more refined than the original KMs. KM3s are supposed to be the same sort of jump in those categories above the KM2s, plus added grip. I know for me if that's the case I'd consider the KM3s but would not have considered the KM2s.

I’m going to be very interested in the KM3s. Because I ran KM2s for 60,000 miles and they were the worse tire I’ve ever had. They were just terrible in mud and downright slippery on wet overpass roads.

I tried KO2 after the KM2s, and found the KO2 to be one of the best tires I’ve ever ran. Let’s hope the KM3 got the KO2s rubber compound, that alone would make the KM3 interesting.

Another option here is the General Grabber X3. If the 200 needed a bit more, I would consider them... they work well on my 73. They'll never be a Swamper, though.

What's with the couple of comments about a KO3 being released this summer? Is it just confusion between the KM3 mud and the KO2 all-terrain? I'd find it hard to believe that BFG is already making changes on the KO2. It's a great tire!

It’s confusion.

That's what I thought as I couldn't find anything online about it. Will be interested to see what the general public thinks of the KM3 once it's released. Just from looking at it, one can see that BFG incorporated a lot of their research from the KO2 into the new KM3.

I'm loving the KM3 performance and I'll likely run them on the 200 in the future. I had brand new KM2's before testing the KM3, they are quieter yet equally agressive imo.

From photos, it looks like the KN3s have a lot more siping...perhaps specifically to address that horrible wet performance...

Sidewalls look remarkably similar to KO2s... (rather than KM2s...!)

I’m interested too, but will wait to see...

Just placed an order for a set of 285/70/17 KM3 for my Tacoma through Discount. Hoping they're here by Friday for a camping/wheeling trip I'm taking this weekend.

Look forward to full report!

If they perform even close to KO2+mud voids?

Might try them next...
