<UPDATE2:
For you folks that missed the first run and have been patiently waiting, I've set up an ordering form for you to secure your place in line here: https://goo.gl/forms/oMxbyVENWjV5Osmq2

Price will be $575 (cost went up because of increases incorporating the wings & 80 series). Shipping same ($100 west of Mississippi, $120 east, free to pick up in Bend). Ship date will be 2-4 weeks after the run closes and folks pay - could be a week could be a month, and we have holidays getting in the way of things...

I will be putting up a website consolidating FAQs and pictures soon, but in the meantime this will be the main thread.

Thanks for everyone's patience and support as I've gotten the logistics figured out!
Dave>

<UPDATE: Group Buy is CLOSED at 20 lucky folks>

Okay mudders, your patience is no longer required, here is your official buyer's thread for the Keep It Simple Storage (KISS) Drawers!

KISS Drawers installed.webp

The KISS Drawers thread
The first thread for historical purposes
The customization and finishing thread

In the spirit of Mud I am going to kick this off with a Group Buy - I've received a lot of good input and comments over the months and that deserves to be rewarded.

The work required to schlepp 104 lbs of parts around, package, and ship is not trivial, and as this is not my day job I would like to do it in batches of 10. Combine those two ingredients and you have the following:

Retail price will be $599.

If we get 10 buyers the price will go down to $575

If we get 20 buyers the price will go down to $549

This run is capped at 20. After the group buy closes I will ship the first batch of 10 in 2-3 weeks, and the second a week after.

Shipping will be fixed at $100 west of the Mississippi and $120 east (that is based on FedEx Ground zones) and takes 3-5 days based on beta shipments, or pick up in Bend, Oregon for free. I'm not shipping outside the US just yet sorry, I need to get through a big order before I add international logistics to the mix.

In the next post I will list all of those folks who had expressed interest in prior threads, and in fairness to their contributions & patience am giving them until Friday to commit to buy and secure a place in the queue. If you're not on the list but want to buy go ahead and email me your 'commit' and it will be on a first come basis after the early folks. Hopefully that seems fair, I'm new at running a buy or even a venture like this...

To commit and secure your place please email me the following at landsharkoutfitters@gmail.com:

1) your handle
2) real name
3) whether you have rear AC or not (different tops)
4) whether you want cutouts or blanks for installing your own handles
5) phone number
6) the email address to reach you at
7) the ship-to state to calculate shipping

You do NOT pay anything yet - wait until we see which price it gets to then I will email you *paypal* instructions.

Any questions about the drawers or comments are valued and should be preserved so please ask in their thread (here), and keep this one just about the buy. This thread will die out after the buy is over so we don't want good stuff slipping into the archives.

Thanks for your patience and interest, it's exciting for me to see a simple little idea come to life and be embrace by a community of such awesome people - I can't wait to see where folks take this humble starting point of a drawer system and hope it brings you organizational bliss :D

Email sent. Thanks for your work on this project.

Charlie

After just 3 days we've passed (10) buyers so the price is officially down to $575!

@chudly new buyers are welcome NOW to email their 'commits' (those are the 'On-The-Ball-Commits' list up above) and right now it looks probable you could get in this batch.

As for the wings flipping up, no, I added that to the FAQs since it's been asked a few times. Here's the answer so you don't have to go looking:

Why don't the sides flip up, aka 'wings'?
Basically because the strength/cost/use equation didn't pan out. A primary goal for this set was to keep cost down, and while cutting wings would be cheap, supporting a 250 lb guy climbing on top of hinges and supports to sleep for the night isn't. In addition, many folks load the back of their truck up with gear, in which case you can't even get TO the wings to open them. Finally, I have found during testing that it is only about an arm's length to reach in before you hit the fenderwells anyway, so I am able to store and access pretty easily from the front. That said, this drawer set is designed to be your starting point for what you want, so take my super flexible, easy to attach track skeleton and very strong plywood and have at it. Oh, and please post what you do for others to copy/tweak/learn from.

I believe one of the Betas is looking to do this, however, so stay tuned for his posts.

All of the early interested parties have now either committed or bowed out so I have removed that bit from the second post and assigned the shipments. Thank you to everyone who has committed!

Weekend bump to see if we have any final buyers before closing the group buy... would like to get to 20 from our current 16 as my price breaks are on the 10s - pass the word!

I'm interested in a set for an 80 series when you are ready.....

I've gotten some really good feedback from the betas, as well as some suggestions for easier assembly. Squaring the frame is critical of course, and a bit more work than it has to be if I make a couple tweaks, which it is looking like a good idea to do. The side affect to these tweaks would be easier porting to an 80 or 60, much, much easier 'wings' for those interested, and easier removal and reinstall, which I know some folks might be doing. The downside I am fighting is cost vs maintaining strength. It's easy to maintain strength with enough money, but I of course do not want a cost increase on what is supposed to be a low cost system.

SO - nothing to definitively report or show just yet, just keeping the comm lines open.

My goal is to have this sorted out by the time the last 2 spots fill, which is looking like end of week.

I'm in. PM and email with info sent.

We are at 19 of 20, just 1 open slot left!

Here's the list of commits so far, thank you to everyone. I'll keep it open until next weekend in hopes we get to 20 and everyone can benefit from the lower price.

Hi.

Please add my name to the batch. Thanks. Email to follow.

Wow. Group Buy is now closed at 20. I'm impressed and humbled by the interest and excitement

I will be sending out payment info to everyone on the email addresses you gave me, and updating you on the design tweak to the top- whether it is going to happen or not.

For those who missed the buy: I will be figuring out sales going forward and tossing up a website after these go out the door - they are priority #1. If you want to be considered as a backup in case one of the commits fall through (from extraordinary circumstances) go ahead and email me as per the first post, but I'm not expecting anyone to drop out so please don't get your hopes up. And I'm not extending the buy as my price breaks are qty 10 - hence stopping on an even 20.

One more thing (not huge like a Steve Jobs 'one more thing') - all the visible screws on top and front will be matte black instead of the zinc plated you see in the photos. That should look better with your finishing liner/paint/stain (no impact to those planning mats or carpet). Yes, every detail matters;)
