Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself here - I'm Bennett, I grew up in Southeast Asia and remember my dad having two turbodiesel 80 series in manual transmission and a 2UZ 100 series (also in manual!) over the years for work and have very fond memories of it, so LC’s have always been my dream car. I’ve been looking for 1HDT 80 series in manual for quite a while, but it just seems too expensive to acquire/import and maintain here in the States with parts and fuel availability, so I ended up settling for the 1FZ-FE in manual. Bought it from the Bay Area and drove it up to Seattle. Truck is a 95’ in moonglow pearl and PO installed lots of mods that I’d like to revert back to stock (except the part time 4WD, manual swap, aux fuel tank). It is currently on a Dobinson 4 inch lift kit with 315/75 R16 Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT which is too high for my family and I. I don’t do a lot of offroading and will mostly be my daily driver so am looking to convert it back to mostly stock (plus ARB front bumpers, rear tire carrier on stock bumper, light duty roof rack and snorkel). Am looking for some oem fender flares and running boards as well as the original tan leather power front seats (would like to find one that's decent/doesn't have to be perfect but doesn't need reupholster)- will make a separate wanted post for it.

I’m planning to stay with the OEM 16 inch wheels (actually looking for LX450 wheels so if anyone has one, please let me know). 315 just seems a little too big for me and I’m leaning to either 285 or 295 (285 is more readily available). I do have my eyes set on the BFG AT since most people seem to be running them with good results. The reason I’m debating 285 or 295 is because I’m not sure if I should do stock height with 285 or a 1 inch (or 2?) lift/spacers with 295 given that I’ll be installing ARB front bumpers, rear tire carrier on stock bumper, running boards, light duty roof rack and snorkel. Some pics of people’s setup with either would really help me decide!

I’ll be selling the Cooper Discoverer 315/75 R16 tires once I get this figured out (and other parts I end up not using like Metal Tech rock sliders, Corbeau tan seats, Superior Engineering hyperflex radius arms, etc and will make a post of it) so if anyone is interested, feel free to reach out! Tires were bought brand new by PO earlier this year with less than 2k miles on it.

I'm about to do an oil change and baseline the truck so was wondering what oil weight are you all using for your 1FZ-FE? Truck currently has about 225k miles on it and PO have been running synthetic 5W30 in CA (Bay Area). Am particularly interested in folks living in PNW since we have temperate climates here. I know the owner's manual recommend 5W30 but it seems like the rest of the world uses 15W40 and some folks here use Rotella T6 for diesel engines too. I’ve already gone on the rabbit hole for the best oil filter (probably shouldn’t have to, the big 15600 41010 is now discontinued or too expensive so I think I’m just going to settle for the OEM 90915-YZZD3) and want to avoid the rabbit hole for oil weight.

Thanks in advance and I'm looking forward to meeting people here and contributing to the group!

PO did a lot of great stuff (5 speed, part time, quad lights, etc). And maybe some not so great. Looks like an awesome rig to make your own. Best wishes and happy times with your Land Cruiser!

Thank you! Paint does need a respray (it seems like it wasn't a good job when the holes for the fender flares were welded, trying to see if I can do it myself since it seems to need respray the most on the front fenders, rear doors and rear quarter panels). Looking forward to learning more from this forum.

Man if I were closer I'd trade my 285s on lx rims and running boards for yours. Congrats on the cool adventure!
