I have an FJ80 LC, and I love it, but I needed a truck, and better mpg so I just bought a 94 22RE 5spd 4x4 truck and I have a couple of questions from the experienced truck guys if you don't mind.

I don't rock crawl, the truck is a 99.9% daily driver, I pretty much trail ride from time to time, and want the truck to be as capable as it can without major mods. I am going to put lockers in it.

1. It has 4:10 gears, and I like stock height trucks. What are the largest tires that will still retain good drive-ability and will fit with stock springs / height without rubbing. I don't mind flattening seams, minor cutting in the fender well etc. but I don't want a lift kit
2. What sliders and bumpers have everyone been happiest with, or should I just buy a bender and make my own?
3. Are there any must have mods for these trucks?
Thanks for the help.

IMO-31's fit best. You can get away with 32-33 but lose drivability.
I like marlin and 4xinnovations for sliders and bumpers.
I wouldnt worry about a front locker, unless your gonna go ahead and put different gears in the diffs.
A rear locker and youll only shy away from the stupid stuff.

For the most part, ditto. The only thing I don't like are the rock-crawling tube bumpers out there. I'm more of an expedition guy and prefer a solid or formed bumper like the ARB.

With a rear locker, 31's and a set of Marlin Crawler 4.7 gears in the T-case you'll be set. If you can go slow you won't end up needing the sliders and bumper as much as if you're having to bang your way through things. I don't have sliders or bumpers, and it's taken 4 years of wheeling to even touch a rocker panel, but I am on 33's... and I drive like a grandpa offroad...
