I've been going back and forth on whether I could make this trip. I really would like to go but I just have too much going on right now with the family and preparation for Grand Canyon. I need to bow out and let someone else pick up my spot.

Nope. I'm going on this weekend's HC trip.@BillRiley you're up next. Can you make it? Please confirm.
I'm leaving Thursday but if you need a hand tonight or tomorrow, consider it done.Is this isn't the post I planned to make. I've been traveling for 3 weeks straight and had my first weekend to do any prep work on the truck. Got some good work complete, but wanted to handle the belt squeal I have been dealing with. Tightened up the ps bracket and reduced it. So tried to tweak the idler pulley. Seemed to be fine until I got home after the short drive and found that the belt was frayed. Started it again to check and the idler pulley is seized. Will be putting on my spare belt tomorrow but am concerned about it.
At this point I'm up in the air. Going to dig into trying to fix/replace it but not sure I have the time before Thursday night to get into it.
Once we're all confirmed for June HC, let's sort out group meals etc.
Are experienced folks thinking cooking on camp stoves (vs. dehydrated backpack-style meals)?
Do we need bear canisters? I think the USFS has a [new] 2017 requirement for those in the Pisgah "back-country" to have bear canisters. Would that apply to our expedition? I'd prefer to bring meals-for-us, instead of meals-for-bears, if you get my drift...
I do have a bear spray.
