My truck is 24v. If my batteries are dead, what is the procedure to jump start from a 12v car with jumper cables? Would the procedure be the same if the 24v was used to jump start a dead 12v truck?

Thank you.

Nice discussion here:
I carry a heavy duty jump pack:
and if I ever needed a jump would hook it up as in method 4 or 5 in the thread referenced above

I usually do method 2. If I had a multi-meter with me, I might jump to the battery that has the lower voltage of the two, but I don't usually carry a multi-meter around in my vehicle.

And the same works going the other way (jumping from the 24V to the 12V).

Thanks for that but damn, it made my head hurt. I will read it again when I'm fresh and try to figure this out. At this point it looks like I need to ID the "high side" and "low side" batteries.

I haven't had any battery issues with the 24 1hdt yet. It's amazing how quickly it starts. Like as soon as the key rolls over. It's ON. I can imagine though that someone will ask me for a jump at some point. I don't want to hurt their battery but more importantly I don't want to hurt mine.

Thanks Owyhee. I'm going to print that and keep in my truck. Appreciate it.
