9 works for me, are we going in from Jasper end?

Have a great time. For added laughs, I will be moving Samantha out of her apartment on Saturday so I will be lugging her crap in the heat up and down stairs while you are enjoying the trails and good company.

Are we planning on meeting at the shop parking lot area? as we have done in the past...

I'm debating trying to make this; Partly because I may end up not making the Takeover. Is everyone camping out and/or wheeling both days?

far as I know its a camp out deal. I'll camp with the group as the situation permits in teh future. In the past I was not setup for that.

On a similar note (camping)... beyond personal hygene stuff, clothes... what are some good items to invest in for camping. What I have at preasent. A two person tent, sleeping bag, tarp, army cot, small shovel & axe, camp chair, I think I have some simple camp style plate and cup stainless/steel..etc.

I do have an old coleman heater, camp stove and light (all coleman gas powered) but have been in storage for long time and I guess I need to go over and get that stuff, and clean it up and make sure it works. I don't plan on carrying all of that this time as I don't have enough time to verify it works and prep all that.

What other gear should I look for? What are good food items to bring? What's good to have that makes the experience a good one. I'm not trying to bring the house with me...just whatever makes sense and minimal at best.

I though about bringing my small weber grill on this trip..would that be ok.

I will have my generator becuase as I noted in a previous thread I have sleep apena and if I camp I've got to have a power source. Its a honda and I have a long extension cord so I don't think it will bother anyone as far as noise, if it does I'll move out from the main party.

Well I love camping almost as much as I love wheeling so that's cool. We'll see how the week works out. Me and another GA Cruiser may come (no, not you Ted. I know you already wussed out!). Might convince a Heep buddy too if his rig is not going under the knife that weekend.

Elbert -
My main piece of advice is to go on a few campouts and just see what others have and don't have and then decide from that what'd work best for you. I can tell ya that you'll have every level of preparedness there if both Roger and I show up; me being the somewhat minimalist camper as a backpacker primarily and Roger as the fully expedition-ready guy (depending on which truck he brings). I know that doesn't help ya much in preps for this trip, but the amount of detail I'd go into if I tried explaining gear recommendations would probably tire out my fingers as much as it would your eyes.

I will make your gear requirements a little smaller, I'll cook dinner Saturday evening. I am thinking sausage gumbo and French bread. I'll need a head count.

Gear, like Steve said there is a wide range but as long as you have the basics someone in the group can help you out.

thanks Guys

just trying to get some ideas.

For headcount purposes there will be two of "us", me and my friend Tim.

question

I hve a 97 4runner with torchin bars lifted all the way with 14 inch dick cepeks and 35 inch tires. Basically stock all over except brush guard and roof rack. Just wonndering if my truck could make it up this trail if me and my buddy decided to come.

You should b OK. We have winches, tow straps and plenty of spotters. The main trail is pretty easy. Its the side trails that are optional that can get tough.

I and one other GA Cruiser won't know if we can make it until the last minute so I guess we'll plan our own food if we end up making it. We'll be able to let you know before Friday though hopefully just so you know to look for us.

I have a 4x4 97 4runner torchin bars torked all the way up. 35 inch tires 14 inch wheels. Wondering if my truck could make it up this trail if me and a friend decided to tag along.

Okay cool. Hopefully there will be no need in breaking those out. I've been on pretty good trails. I just wanted to know how agrresive this was. My truck should do fine then. Idk if I'm in yet. I have college stuff I gotta deal with but me and a friend are gonna try and make it.
