How accurate is the weather forecasting there? It's saying there's a fair chance or rain all weekend in Jasper. Does the cove follow close to anything or does it have it's own weather? If it does look to be wet, how will that effect everyone? I know the wheeling will get a little squrrely, but will the rivers rise quick and will the camping be difficult in the rain?

How accurate is the weather forecasting there? Not Very. It's saying there's a fair chance or rain all weekend in Jasper. Thats the same forcast we've had for the last 3 months. Wont change much till Sept. Does the cove follow close to anything or does it have it's own weather? Water levels in the cove are affected more by the amount of rain on the plateu. If it does look to be wet, how will that effect everyone? I know the wheeling will get a little squrrely, but will the rivers rise quick and will the camping be difficult in the rain?
As of last sat. the creek was only a couple inches above what is normal for this time of year. we have not had any rain since then so it should be down a little by now. Unless we get a lot of rain between now and fri we will be fine. What we can expect are afternoon t-storms that normally dont last long. Rain does make camping a little more of a challenge but thats just part of the adventure. Really Steve your starting to sound like TED!!:flipoff2:

The weather not being very accurate, especially up in the cove, is kinda what I was expecting you to say. Rain, other than making a lot of mud, may be nice as long as it stays overcast to keep the temps down anyway.

As for sounding like Ted - :censor: That hurts. :p

But in all seriousness, I'm just tryin to be fully informed before I decide to drive 5 hours and spend $300 in fuel for a weekend trip.

ahhh, you guys suck but I'm feelin' loved! I aint afraid of no water especially after our last run, I'd even say it was perty darn cool. Maybe Steve is afraid, dunno, but I'll send you a pacifier just in case, oh, and some water wings :flipoff2:

I LOVE wheeling in water and streams; I agree Ted, last time was sweet! However RAIN makes mud and IH8Mud! Mud contributes to more damage than any streams or rocks. And, while sleeping in a tent in rain is also cool, setting it up and breaking it down in the rain is not cool. So lets hope Andy's forecast holds true and anything we get are only afternoon showers. So Ted, you coming now or what? Highs in the 80's Saturday is what I read somewhere.

nah, would love to but not this go around. gotta broke truck and wallet at the moment and not enough time to fix either one before Friday.

however, that place has no mud so don't sweat it, oops, that was a pun. seriously though, going in from the south (like we tried but failed to do last time) is a good ride, you'll have fun.

The current weather report is 20% chance of afternoon showers with temps in low 80's for Tracy City.

Ok, so we're saying 9-10am; saw something about meeting at a shop somehwere on the jasper side? Just trying to nail it down before Saturday.

Is this your shop P-lot Andy? Same place we met for the "flood" ride? Essentially I'm asking if this is the tow rig drop lot.

I need a freekin' new tow truck! My ole' blue Ford has let me down. Anyone interested in a 1989, 250 HD 2wd, 351, 60,000 miles (yes only 60,000 miles) with a water leak coming from the pass side firewall/engine area? Steam comes into the cab. I am tired of fixing stuff around here.
Has camper shell and tow package, 2 year old tires. Great interior, cra-ppy Ford blue paint outside.
Make an offer I can't refuse.

Will consider trading for an ugly truck that runs and pulls stumps.
...I can't believe they filtered out the word c r a p p y, what's this world coming to?

Cool. Figured it probably was. Unless something comes up tomorrow, I'm pretty sure I'm in at this point. I'll likely come in late Friday night. Anyone around there going to have issues with me parking there overnight?

On a separate topic - anyone have some square tubing for building a front d-shaft with? Or does anyone need any mini-truck parts; I have a bunch for sale.

Steve, got a street worthy rear drive shaft for a 3rd gen mini truck? will get measurements tonight and post later if need be. lemme know. edit: call it 48.5" compressed but I doubt you have one for a 3rd gen.

Came across a CB today... now I need an antenna. If anybody that is coming has one unused or unwanted, bring it with you; I'm sure its worth a six-pack. :)

Ted: ironically, just had a guy come over and dig through my pile of d-shafts yesterday looking for that same one; he did not find any. Sorry.

Jasharp: coincidentally, I am bringing 2 CB antennas (both magnet mount). At the very least you can use one of them if you like; I may part with one. We'll see.

I wish was able to make it this weekend. Y'all have fun!

See everyone in the morning :steer:

Anyone gettin together for breakfast anywhere?

Andy - I'll be at the Wal-Mart in the morning. If you don't see a yellow semi or a green mini-truck, call me. 770-668-4372.

Hot Shower = good
Cold A/C = better

good ride, good people. I think we set some kind of record for having mechanical issues this time and luckliy it was not my junk.

I would have to say camping is better when it cools off, but I was glad to show up and go with the group.

Every time I go out I learn new stuff...this time I did not have tc issues or p/s issues which was great, maybe soon I can get A/C going in LC.
