We got motor, tranny, transfer case pulled out. Separated motor and tranny, pulled the clutch and flywheel. Cleaned motor and got it painted, ready to install new rear main seal and new clutch.

Sand blasted and painted tranny and under tub.

And no beers were harmed in this production, I am told.

Learned a lot from previous builds! You are exactly right!

Still want to know about the coil spring..... JT, are you going fuel injection?

I think that's in the bylaws, that all new 2Fs brought into the fold shall be fuel injected.

At first we thought the coil spring was part of the extremely rare factory 3 link rear suspension option offered only in '77. Upon further inspection, though, it appears to be part of the towing package option - used as a helper spring...not to support tongue weight in the usual manner, but rather to simply support the added weight of this class V receiver:

This heavy bastard liked to kill me during removal. Who needs spring over? I got 4 inches of lift in the rear just by taking this thing off.

Yes...AFI going on after motor gets reinstalled.

We drank beer? Oh yeah that's right!! All of this and Spivey's birthday party worked in as well.
