I would go spring over also...the rest will follow.

That's 4 votes for SOA...5 if you count Bodean's which was cast early on before this thread. 0 votes for SUA.

Todd - what made you swap camps?

Anyone from the SUA camp want to weigh in?

I'm sure we can wrap the collective CottonLand brain around an SOA. Since you are already doing hi-steer, the only thing left would be a front cut-&-turn and a rear anti-wrap bar, right? Front shackle reversal? What springs for SOA? FJ55 rears? 60 rears? Listen to Bossman on gaining easy wheelbase and don't cut fenders until you know exactly where the wheel center will be. This is going to be awesome!

At first it felt like I was going to roll all the time. That combined with carb issue kinda sucked. I wheeled some more and got used to the feel of it. I put 2 in spacers on the wheels that made a huge difference. AFI makes it better too. I was loving it at GSMTR and asking myself why am I going to build another one. We need to go wheeling and let you drive mine on a trail and then drive one of the SUA so you can see the difference.

SOA/SUA was hashed out in 1999 :)

If you can find 55 rears they are awesome. Spring pin is centered. That and reversing the front gets you 100" if I remember right.

The only way I recommend a shackle reversal is with SOA. Swap the hangers around and get a nice approach angle.

There are probably 20 good write ups on SOA/cut turn/reversal/ladder bars out there. No reason to wrap too much collective mind on it.

Read up. Make it happen.

Nice JT ! glad ya started a thread on it. Nice plan. Just go with a V8 and get it over with ; P

I daily drove the zuk sprung over for years. no issues. you get used to its behavior. It's a cheap way to lift it. The front of zuk still is sprung over. Less crap to drag and get hung up on the rocks.

Oh yeah and stretch it and get rid of as much body as you can stand and /or rust allows. Less to paint and F up on the trail.

Enjoy!

Awesome! Look forward to following along... Another vote for SOA as I seem to hear people wishing they'd have done that to begin with...

Clean up and sell that nice uncut truck, and buy that truck with all the mods out of GA.

JT got a spring over 60 housing in parts stash- nothing just bare housing.

If you wanted a wider foot print than 40 axle.

Offering up stuff.

Got some 60 knuckles from Jason at CruiserYard...very well packaged and labeled.

I'm missing the metal split rings and half moon oil seal retainer pieces, so I'll have to find those somewhere.

Those should be in any knuckle rebuild kit.

You need to get one from CCOT to put all that back together

I've got a full front axle rebuild kit with knuckle and wheel bearings, but it doesn't have the outer pieces that fit behind the felt wipers. In fact, none of the kits I looked at include those. Maybe I'm missing something?

I think I have an unopened kit with them. Text me tomorrow.

So JT ya get it all together? (4 link). Yeah those marlin seals are great! ( V8). Love the tire choice ( (low cut dress)

Subliminal man strikes again ; -p

Actually sounded real good! Didn't smoke either. Not bad for a truck that's been sitting for about 3 years.
