Another thing I did was to buy a 1/4" thick truck bed mat for right around $90. It was a "custom cut" version with no wheel wells cut out and it was somewhere around 8' x 5'. I have used it to cut out floor mats in the front and a cover for the storage drawers in the rear. I still need to cut a piece for right behind the front seats and under the drivers seat. The mats have helped to protect and hide the metal floors. They have also reduced the amount of heat in the cab. Can't remember if I got it a Ricks Pro Truck or Big 10. Shop around for the biggest mat at the best price.

or a horse stall mat at Tractor Supply

and the winner is

Rustoleum Spruce Green. I painted directly over the darker green so it will have a slightly more grey touch when it has primer underneath and not rust and green paint.

I will probably prep and do the entire hood to make sure and after I have done my RB and metal prep start priming the tub, fendors, and windshield

this is close to an od green but with a little more sheen to it.......od green was actually more expensive from the 3 places I sourced it so I decided that coupled with the fact that RO is highly unlikely to discontinue Spruce.....this is a safe bet for the truck

The spruce makes the darker green look like it has a blue hue to it......I dig the spruce

Hey Lash.......Wife got me a rear floor mat for Christmas so that and the original one piece rubber mat for the front will go back in to cover the hole for right now

When yall decide on a color give me a shout. I can probably get it through Revell Hardware at a discount. Try Ace paint as well. Good paint!

I pay $4.48 for a can of RO spruce green at lowes with military discount....if you can find a better deal im all ears.....I want about 15 cans.

Did you check home depot? They seemed cheaper than Lowes when I was looking.

not yet....gonna go shop for price now that I have a color,. By the way the pic taken is right after spraying it so it isnt dry and it's on that diamond plate...it wont have that glossy look to it.

first coat of RB is on

so some pics and first impressions.

I LIKE this stuff. It is easy to put on....with a roller....kinda like glue on a brush when doing corners.

I put painters tape in all the holes so as not to permanently seal them. I also taped a rough outline just so I didn't start painting the whole truck....I knew it would look good going on and was glad I did or I would have kept going.

I bought quarts and put half in a roll pan then the other half once that was done. If you are thinking of using it DEFINITELY use cling wrap when putting the lid back on the RB or it will be super hard to get off.

Stirring doesn't take 2 minutes like suggested you can see the darker metal flakes blending with the lighter goo after 20 seconds.

this stuff will cover small imperfectiosns and metal dings and is sticky as hell.

WEAR GLOVES and I did it in the garage with door open, respirator, and fan going and am still a little high.

see first coat pics

which pic is the after pic? is it the one with the silver coating? I like the color of it. I may line my samurai tub with that color if thats the way it ended up.

no no no......the green and brownish red is the final look.....that's why that pic is LAST.

it's easy to work with and you can use an hvlp gun, roll it, brush it....brush strokes are evident....bc of the cross hatch method to get it in the poors but my second coat took care of some of it...metal on the floor looks like the piting is half as bad as it did orginially....itll have a rubber mat on it anyway.
Rust Inhibitor Paint | Stop Rust | Rust Corrosion Inhibitor | Rust Converter good stuff

except it's all over my hands

So RB ended up drying clear .. Damn I really liked that silver color.

paint?

should I leave the inside silver and do just the outside in my rustoleoum spruce green?.....:hhmm:

RB is tough as nails all ready and it has to cure for 65 more hours......crazy

Looks very good josh, I loved the stuff myself. IT is tough as HELL!! I think you would catch the blues takin it off with a 4" grinder.

I know the light is hard to get with the flash, but I like the silver way better than that green.

and the silver with the new black seats I have and the fresh coat of black im putting on the belts, seat frames and console would be a great contrast.....hmmm:hhmm:

by the way saw your truck going to get Newks earlier.....the level look, tires, paint look great

I would cry if someone told me I had to remove that stuff.....geeze...it's literally like painting on glue and it hardens super quick

Paint the whole truck with rust bullet.

hmmm.....wire wheel the WHOLE truck to get rid of 90% of paint that is still sticking to put RB on, which would cost a fortune :bang:OOOOORRRRR
rough up the paint and spray on some more:hhmm::hhmm::hhmm:

Paint it with the bed liner when you can.

Paint it with the bed liner when you can.

Jrob and I were discussing that at Cherokee....not sure if I want to use Durabak, herculiner, or ????

I may just rustoleoum it and if it doesn't look good go over it with something else.

I like the stock look of one color inside and out, but I may have to cover the rust damage with more than just paint.....we shall see.

when yo doing the Purdy truck tub?
