Hey all, picked up an 04 LX 470 in September as the price was too good to justify passing on it. Currently sitting at 162K, TB/WP was done at 151k.

Baselined all fluids. Outer tie rods were shot, so put new ones on. CVs appear good, driveshafts also appear fine. Put new globes on, shocks are good. Fuel filter and all vacuum hoses were also replaced under my ownership.

I live pretty close to a 4 Lane highway. Occasionally, I have to make a fast left turn out of a parking lot, as oncoming traffic has not stopped for about a mile prior.

When I do this, the entire vehicle seems to jolt. It’s almost as if it’s not getting the correct air/fuel mix. The transmission shift’s fine, no slipping no failure to shift or anything like that. I tested this yesterday doing a right hand turn and got some similar reaction, although not as intense as when doing the left turn. Vehicle received a 4 wheel alignment two weeks ago, problem was there before and still remains.

AHC is in neutral, tire size is 275/70r18 (no rubbing).

Any ideas on where to start diagnosing? I thought maybe originally it was the U joints in one of the driveshaft, but after checking for play, I found none.

Does it happen more often when it's cold and then go away? If so, possibly torque converter. Really bad ball joints can bind and create a jolting when turning and accelerating at slower speeds. Zero point calibration is a possibility, as mentioned.

If it only happens when turning it's unlikely to be engine related.

Negative to the cold. Had been running for about 4 hours on the highway, came to a stop at an off ramp and it happened on a left hand turn there.

UCA and LCA joints are good. Was really thinking the ujoints in the shafts were binding, but the front DS was replaced about 1k miles ago with a new OEM one. I’ve got an OEM rear in the garage that I had purchased for another LX that got totaled, and thought about just throwing it in to see if any change.

Zero point calibration done, and no change

Don't mean to be insulting but the center diff lock IS off, correct?
Sorry, I just had to ask.....

CDL locked.
Wheel bearing loose. ABS monetary activation and or brake rotor catching caliper.
FDS axle to hub flange, snap ring off. Axle pulls out & in of hub flange, during turns.
ATF level low. All 2004-07 where set low at factory. TSB correct level, by using lower temp of 98F to 115F, when setting level.

Unknown automatic locker?

Is your battery secured correctly?

Yes. Really think there’s something with the CVs or u joints. Definitely seems in the drivetrain as I’m ruling other things out.

Will dive deeper into these
