Wow Joe! Nice work you're doing. Paint is gonna look good. He seems to take a great deal of care in his prep for you. It's nice to find good people o work with.

Yeah he is good. Slow but very meticulous.
After he did an unreal job on my FIL's 66' Corvette i asked him to do the 60. I figured if he could paint fiberglass, he could paint anything.

i know im coming in late here, but where did you get that restored charcoal canister? mine is rusted to no end

Phwew, finally!

Thanks dudes.
Been a long time coming.
Got it all bolted back down tonite already.

Here's a question...

Are the early transfer case shifters bent different?
The one on the transfer came from Georg. It hits the back of the hole in floorpan. In a quick looking at my original 87 transfer case on the floor, it appears to have a little dog leg bent into it. I am going to have to change the shifters i believe.
Thoughts?

First and foremost, good work putting the new body down on the frame! That's a hell of a good feeling.

I would expect that the early and late t-case shifters are different simply based on the fact that the late shifter would have to account for the extra transmission length.

Joe IIRC, the 81-5/85 shifter were different from the post 6/85 thru 87 shifter. I think the later was a thicker shifter with a larger hole in the shift plate to compensate for the larger shifter.

Hope I have that correct.

Wow that looks absolutely amazing! Best of luck with that truck!

Quick question.....in looking at the entire thread I don't see much about the body. How much NJ rust was on the body? What was replaced in terms of body metal?
