Went out to Corral Hollow and we tried to get to a spot with the view, but there was too much snow to pass through. I tried to use the GX and pave the way (go fast, get pulled back, try again), but kept getting stuck. Was getting late, so we double backed to a camp spot to try again the next day. Good thing we did, because the fog came in thick!

Running Corral Hollow without any kind of protection rings on my Alpha Equipt wasn’t a good idea lol 😂. Got some damage, but nothing the new red beauty rings won’t cover 😉.

Found my engine skid not fully secure. Culprit was a broken weld nut. Pulled out the rattling piece of metal and replaced it with a RivNut.

Work said they needed me in Texas for a month. I asked them if I can drive there and bring my family with me. They approved, so I changed my transfer case and diff fluids and was ready for the journey.

Oh, I also took off my RTT for the trip and reinstalled the Roam box.

First stop on the trip was Salt Lake City and we took our son to the Natural History Museum. My buddy had taken his daughter here a couple of weeks prior and I saw how cool their dinosaur exhibits were and thought, Marley (my son) would freaking love that!

While leaving the museum, we heard and felt a grinding in the rear brakes. When we pulled over, I found that the driver side rear caliper had lost both its mounting bolts 😧! Was pretty much being held on by the wheel. The local Toyota dealer did not have any bolts, so I went to ACE Hardware and found bolts/nuts/spacers to make it work for now. I just added some orange Loctite and hoped that would be good until I can get the correct bolts. I checked on it from time to time and it actually lasted without needing repair 😁. I eventually replace it with the correct bolts when I got home from TX 👀.

After spending the night in SLC, we were headed towards Moab. When I routed my way to Texas, I wanted to make sure we stopped enough (1.5 year old with us) and stayed in places that interested us (me). One thing I was finding out was how much I loved the Utah scenery.

After doing some touristy stuff, we went to our hotel, but I told the wife, “Hey, I can’t be in Moab wit our vehicle and not do a trail.” and she told me, “Okay, find something and take Marley.” ☺️. So, I looked on AllTrails app and the shortest (duration) trail that I felt comfortable running solo was Gemini Bridges. My son and I left the hotel, fueled up and was on the trail head around 8pm. Ended up being a night run 😄. Took about a hour or so to get through. Craving satisfied, but I knew I had to come back someday.
