The fan is just over $200. It's a wire yourself job. You can pull a plug from a 91-95 Runner and go from there. I used the plug from a 93 and wired it to a second Defrost switch on the left of the steering wheel so I can run it manually(backlit and little orange light indicates on). Looks OEM. CDan used an old aux light harness and toggle to wire his IIRC.
The plug is a standard Toyota electric fan plug - also used in just about every FWD model with electric fan. I got a couple the connectors while junk-yard diving.

Just completed the install today and already I can tell the difference sitting at traffic lights. This summer in Phx we set an all time record of days over 110 degrees - it sure revealed the typical lack of air flow at a standstill on the 80 series..A/C would blow temperate at times if not warm at others. This fan is probably one of the best mods Ive done for the money and fits like a glove. Noticable cooler A/C and that makes for a happy truck full o' family (and me). Should also help in towing/slow wheeling situations where the supercharger may add to the heat factor. Wired it directly to the A/C clutch to activate when ac is on via a Toyota relay. Those in warm climates - go for it, youll be happy you did! Thank for those Mud pioneers who turned us on to this mod

Have any more of those connectors lying around you want to part with? I need to wire up my fan.
BTW this fan looks a lot like the early 90s Nissan Sentra fans, I got mine for $30 a few years back for a pusher fan I needed on a Turbo Escort I did. I will try to find a junk yard with one and get some measurements to see if its the same one (or at least the same size).

Uh, what size fuses are people using with the JDM fans?
While I was in the junkyard, I noticed that allmost all the 90's model Toyota FWD cars have the same fan as this JDM LC electric fan. The only difference is the mounting points so you might need to fab up some mounting tabs.
I have that mazda fan on my T100.

I'm using a 20 amp circuit that was originally powering a set of Bosch driving lamps.
My jap import LC (93) has this fan as std.
Fan runs when car first starts for a few seconds, then stops.
Not sure under what other circumstances it runs, I guess either elevated temps or a/c on ? Hard to tell when driving along !

Out of curiosity which way does the JDM fan spin when you are looking at the vehicle from the front? I'm interested in whether it is in phase or out of phase with the regular fan.

To work properly, it would need to PUSH air through the condensor & radiator.

Counter Clockwise when viewing from the front of the truck looking through the grill.
Just installed two this weekend using the AC pressure switch as activation very cool set up, which was posted here on mud by someone else (not my idea). Very cool with after run.
Funny we were testing it after install after working in the garage for 14hrs and it came on with the ac and then ran for a couple min after the ac was shut off. My dad stated that he "wondered why it had after run on a nice cool evening like this." This was at 10pm...I stated well it is 95 degs out...pretty hot for most of the country

I'm about to wire my fan up pretty soon. All my dash spots are full. Someone over in the 55 section was talking about coolant temperature switches that can be screwed into unused coolant ports on the head. At a certain temperature, the switch closes.
Does the 1FZ head have any extra holes that would take a sensor like this? Where could I find a switch that does this that would come on around 197*? Toyota must have something... CDan?
I don't want to get into tapping into any existing wiring for this project. I know there are many ways to make the aux fan turn on, I just want a relay, a fuse, and a switch. Nothing fancy.

You can use the existing a/c pressure switch to cycle the fan off and on.

I know.
Look at the flex-a-lite site, they and others sell a senssor and switch that you just mount near the radiator. That would be about as foolproof as possible.
