After hearing that there will be a massive side by side event at Choccolocco the weekend of the 24th, we've decided to switch the January and February rides. This month, we will be heading to Adventure Off Road Park (http://www.adventureoffroadpark.com) on Saturday the 31th and camping out till Sunday the 1st. A day pass is $25/driver and $5/passenger. Come on out for a good weekend of wheeling with the Georgia Cruisers!

Ok guys the ride for January is to Choccolocco in Jacksonville, Alabama. It's about a hour and a half away from Atlanta and has some good wheeling for moderately/heavily built trucks. It's got a lot of rocky areas and some more mild areas for less built trucks. At the meeting we agreed to the weekend of the 24th. The plan as of now is to head up on Saturday and camp out to Sunday. The cost is $30/driver and $10/passenger and that includes camping. Here is the link to the park so you can check out some pictures and get more information about where to go http://www.choccoloccomountain.com. Come on out for a good weekend of wheeling, just avoid the $8 steak quesadillas!

Some pics from last years Chocco trip...

How are the more "mild" trails? I think i am taking care of my mother that weekend after some doctors appointments. But that place is only about 65 miles from my moms. If she is feeling well maybe we will head out for the day. She might enjoy running some of the easier trails.

Do you have factory lockers (or lockers at all) on your 80? If you do, then you will be more than capable for the mild trails. If you dont, then you still will enjoy the mild trails. You have an 80 and everyone knows 80s are awesome! Rally Taco (Robert) has been to Chocco a few times and he is in an unlock tacoma on 31's. If you get a chance to come out, you can test your truck out on the trails and then hop in an open seat in one of the built trucks. I know I will have an open seat, and I am pretty sure John and Ted will too. Hope you get a chance to come out.

Yeah well that is assuming I get my junk fixed. Was out running around today and picked up enough 7/16 - 20 bolts to do 2 sets (4 total) of hubs as mentioned in build thread, found them at Fastenal but they made me buy the whole bag of 25. X-ing fingers we get your junk and my junk trail worthy in next 12 days.

My truck is trail worthy as it sits now, it just doesnt have a front locker :meh:

Yes it is locked. Here is my truck from the last ride we did. It does OK, limited mostly by my inexperience. Mostly if i come out with my mom i dont know how much she can withstand. I might have to make it a short day for her. She get tired quickly.

I'm planning on attending. I'll be in the mildly built class and kind of interested to test the truck at a different venue. Looks like some fun trails from watching some YouTube videos.

What is the plan for camping? Communal dinner or fend for yourself?

Meeting time/place?

Just wondering if anyone has checked the Chocco website for their events schedule. Not to rain on anyone's parade but thought i saw a SxS event out there that weekend. That'd be a nasty place to be if so.

D$#n it! I finally got the go ahead from the wife. What about swapping the Jan and Feb events and going to Adventure Offroad? I don't know anything about the park but it's got to be better than fighting crowds.

Thats a good idea @tgreco. Who's up for a trip to AOP this month that weekend, and chocco next month?

Just a suggestion but before you guys jump ship a little info would be nice. I know the trails will be open but whats the real story on Chocco's event, any details? Maybe a quick call to Trey to find out what the real story is.

I'm good with AOP as well pending the weather, that place needs about 3+ sunny days to make it truly wheel-able.

TGreco- AOP is a haul from Athens and isn't close to being practical as a day ride, I'm assuming you'd camp out with us.

I'm planning on camping regardless of where we go.

The sxs event is listed only for Saturday 2/24 at Chocco. I'll default to your guys opinion on how that would affect the density of trucks on the trails.

I've never been to either park and am definitely not trying to butt in on the trip planning. Ultimately, I'll go wherever the group wants to go and will be happy to be in the woods.

It's SRRS annual SxS challenge. Plan on it being huge with rzr's running around like gnats. They're running a woods course, then a hill shoot. While it's only one day of racing, folks come in for the entire weekend.
I'ma prolly be there even though I don't care for them gnats. But it's kinda fun to watch them wreck and also catch up with friends. I like to heckle a tad bit.

Don't you need a set of palm palms with those?

Yup, AOP is a good idea. So much for E hitting us up next time we're in AL. :deadhorse:
