Somehow, I only just stumbled upon this thread. I've now obsessively looked at every picture in it and all I can say is wow. Very cool build. Your pictures really make me miss this southwest.

I'm six foot six and that extra bit of leg room in a 45 would make all the difference. It reminds me a bit of that build from back in Virginia I think. Does anyone remember the green 45 which was extended and he put '77-'84 40 series pop out vents behind the doors? Anyone know where that truck is now?

Looking forward to see what you decide to do to it next.

In my prime I was 6' at most. Now going away from that and not taller. The biggest for me was always my right ankle on long trips. Can't imagine 6'6" in a cab of 45 pickup.
I've owned one LHD 45 pickup: a '65. I LOVED it. I could look at it, polish it and stroke it for hours. But I couldn't drive it more than five or ten minutes at a time without stopping to stretch. I sold it after only a few months heartbroken that I couldn't drive it.

I also owned one RHD HJ47 pick up. I could drive that fairly comfortably for twenty, thirty minutes at a time.....but even then I started needing to stretch.

On all of my forty series I've moved the seats back two inches. That made all the difference, especially for left hand drive. RHD I can drive without moving the seat aft, but I always do eventually.

I can’t imagine fitting into a 45. I have a cutaway E350, and I can’t imagine driving it without the extra 10” the builder stretched the cab. I certainly wouldn’t have survived the 650 mile trip home from Nampa Idaho without the extra space.

I have driven my 40 long distances… but this was something else.

I placed this 2F on the stand. I picked it up awhile back as a ran when pulled mystery motor. Gonna strip it down and use some items on the fake 45. It will probably eventually make it into a future 40 resto.
If there's any small items anybody is interested in.....let me know. I may sell some stuff off it.

...and I thought I was alone in having spare 2F engines sitting around on engine stands.

That's was me over a decade ago: 2Fs, gear boxes, axles, body parts, etc. I finally thinned everything out and sold/ tossed almost everything. Then got my 43 which needs nearly everything...... now I wish I had some of that stuff back.

As I get older I've come to realise that Murphy was actually an optimist.
