Me? nope, just like to have another. I was waiting to see what to lease or buy as a company vehicle next, options are open. But for now, just looking , if a great deal shows up I may jump on it. But the 80 will remain as long as it is alive! It has been the longest vehicle that I have ever own, and my first Toyota ever. Weird....Still amazes me. Not counting vehicles I bought for my wife, I have had 17 in 32 years (after college). So car ADD is real for me.

Awesome! 80's do rock. ADD is real for me as well and had over 20 vehicles since 1986. Sticking with the 100 and may add however the 100 is staying. ;<) (This is the one that got in the fight with the tree in 2016 at the 36 hr race.)

Well, maybe my weekend antics, I mean, science, did work. A number of driving cycles today as per FSM and no codes, or pending codes. Plus system readiness passed. This is a good signal. I may not need the resistor cap for the thermocouple in the end.

Well sheeeeeettttt....
So the P0401 came back. Replaced another broken hose and then 0402 came back. So this time I got Toyota hoses and replaced all vac hoses, the VSV valve since I had one, the coolant bypass no. 2, and the tb gasket. The coolant hose was as pliant as concrete, so the molded Toyota one was needed, big difference. Now waiting to see if the 0402 comes back....

Still chasing the revenge of P0402. Going through FSM tests, I thought the vac modulator was faulty, would pass/and fail. So ordered one up from Partsouq. Ordered Saturday evening, arrived today with a few other things that made sense. Installed and now hoping that’s it. Otherwise, the p0402 will just remain, everything else passed tests.

Got some engine seals to try and stop all the little leaks. Hopefully hat does it.

Interesting how quickly DHL moved it from Dubai...

I order Toyota parts from Cali, Utah, 4 days at best unless special shipping. I list 4-5 parts, I get only the parts they have in stock. No "part # ____ is not in stock, shall we order it for you?" Nope, only what is sitting on the shelf.

I order from Dubai and I have parts in a couple days, and they have the parts in stock! Thanks for the lead to them Izzy.

I miss @Onur like nobody's business.

Don't it always seem to go
You don't know what you've got till it's gone...............

I actually knew what I had, Onur was a tremendous asset.

Well, caca, it didnt work. The code came immediately after starting the engine. WTF.... The only thing I will do next is maybe re-installed the old VSV valve, which tested good when I removed it. Otherwise, will just let it go as there is nothing else to replace. EGR valve does work properly too.

I haven't followed your thread closely so you may have already tried this... but THIS FIX worked for my P0402 code.

The tube that runs through the intake between the EGR valve and the VSV was TOTALLY blocked
Post #22 has a couple of pics. I took a small drill bit and twisted it by hand for a few minutes and it finally broke through and the code was gone immediately. Good Luck; it can be pesky to track down

Thanks, I did as I have been with the 0402 since I bought the truck 5 years ago. I drilled through that hole until I punctured the hose on the other side! But I replaced all hoses anyway. The only part left to do is the EGR. I will replace it and see what it does. All hoses new, all steel lines do pass vacuum and clean. I do smell some gas out of the tailpipe now, which is a new thing.... But will be heading to a pro shop soon worse case.

Has anyone broken the little filter on the intake on the 80? You know the devilish little brittle bastard that cracks if you look at it wrong? Well, I broke it, and built this workaround with 5/8 heater hose and some parts from Renfro hardware. $7, I can sell the kit for $24.

Yes new part ordered. Called Scott Clark, they wanted $44 for it and I have to pay for it before they can order it. Hendricks Toyota insisted on seeing the truck for 3-4 days to analyze the problem before they sell a part. Partsouq has it for $14.....

As always, partsouq FTW.

Replaced both front window door trim thingies, the old ones were disintegrating. Easy job, now my truck looks like new!

Tire time!
Firestone Destination MT2, 285/75s this time. Only problem so far is that they are quieter than BFG, and I hear more noises I didn’t know where there. Need to increase radio volume....

My old KM2s where in bad shape, so stared looking again maybe KM3s, same size. But, I was in the US reveal for the new Firestones, as an instructor driving tire dealers one day, automotive press the second day. We did it an a private training ground and had 30 rubicons, 15 with Firestone tires and 15 with KM2, all with street pressure. So I got to tests side by side, same exact vehicle, same day, same obstacle course both tires multiple times. The Firestones performed just as good if not often better than the KM2.
So, Firestone gave me a deal but they don’t make skinnies, so I accepted the change. Others I know that have them had great reviews too, with troopies, 80s, 100 series.... They are tires, if they don’t perform I will change again. But so far, with a couple of drives in Big Creek, they are excellent. And quieter than KM2

Great review. KM2’s and Km3’s aired down to 15 psi are the best Tire’s I have used off road. Km2s super loud once they wear out

I have the Firestone Destination A/T on all my rigs. The road hazard warranty has paid for itself many times over. The ARB puncture kit gets me to a local firestone every time.

too bad about the tall skinny news. That’s where i was planning on going next.
