We have a "Smart Meter", not sure if people outside Cali have these. Basically it wirelessly beams hour by hour useage to PG$E. Somewhat handy as I can see since I've been using the block heater I've been on average 0.70 kWh over my normal base of 0.30 kWh. Sounds like I'm pullin about 70 watts?

.7KW=700watts

Um, do they work for PG$E... gonna reach through the computer and punch me aren't they

Ah, forgot to move the decimal one more spot.

LOL those guys don't give a s*** as long as the check cashes

Forgot to mention some stuff on the post when I got my tires put on: The truck would grab the grooves in the road pretty bad and the steering was sloppy. I was headed over to cruiserfj45's house to bleed the brakes anyway so he ended up checking it out. Turns out the steering arm on the passenger side was being held on by 1 bolt, not a stud and a nut mind you but a bolt! Checking it out we found that 1 stud was completly missing and 2 studs had recently been sheered off. The PO put a bolt in one of the stud holes. The bolt did not have a cone washer so I'm guessing it worked its way loose giving enough slop to sheer the the remaining studs
Most of that issue has been rectified, the empty stud hole has jacked up threads so I have 3 good studs and cone washers. I'll have to fix the threads or swap a new knuckle in.
On a good note I have the back window working although the switch is a little finicky, I have to find the sweet spot. Only having experienced 4Runner back windows this one rolls up and down 5 times faster. Is this normal or does it sound like the PO bypassed something to just get it to work?

Oh, also pulled the hubs apart while I was there. They were gummed up and the truck was cruising with the hubs locked.
Many thanks to cruiserfj45, gotta make it up by buying pizza or something.

mine used to go down like a guillatine and up as well. I put in some new felted runns down inside from SLO Cruisers and now it runns more slowly. Not so banging. I like it better.

does your rig still have the original small pattern knuckles? I will have a set I don't need to keep when I swap to disks on that rig(hopefully soon) the earlier knuckles have a smaller spindle diameter and use 10 spline birfs...if this is what you have, let me know...

That is sickening.
You are lucky you are not dead, or did not crash into anyone.
Very sad/disturbing...

I think the knuckles are mini truck and the disc and calipers are off of a non-ifs mini truck. Explains why it stops so horribly?

Needless to say cruiserfj45 saved my @$$ and that of my family. So I guess I deserved the chewing out he gave me for not taking him with me to check the truck out.

i ran mini disc stuff for years in my cruiser before upgrading to fj60 calipers and rotors...was fine. if it stops horribly, you may have another issue

When I rolled the floor jack under it I was a little spooked then I saw what the problem was and was really spooked. They are mini truck knuckles with the big pattern. The welded steering arms to achieve cross over steering using the mini trick knuckles also scare me. A friend picked up a set of IFS calipers from pick-n-pull on a 1/2 off day for $25 so those will be going on when we install a new knuckle and re seal everything. We need to clean and adjust the rear brakes and hopefully that takes care of most of the stopping issues. One thing at a time and we will get it fixed up.

so does the mini truck wide pattern knuckles scare you, or the welded steering arms? remember, before the new fangled arms that are out now, lots of folks ran welded arms. properly done, they're not that bad. the new stuff is better, but the old stuff may not be something to be afraid of (if done correctly). and done on a mini truck knuckle is nothing to be afraid of. mini truck knuckles are jsut fine.

I'm sure I've been complimented more rudely than one could be chewed out by CFJ45:p
