That is an impressive goal. I hope you achieve it all.
30 years is a long time anywhere, especially the military, but these golden handcuffs and pension are just too good to give up. Idiots keep promoting me and giving me raises 🤷‍♂️

Well…

took my Tundra to the PP in South Dakota and got to hang with some old friends and new ones. Took my pops and 2 kids. Tundra was easy and did great for the family trip

Then went boating a lot

then took my 15 year old to a concert and now he can drive…..

then my oldest son moved out. Maintaining a 3.5 in Aerospace Engineering at a engineering school across the street from NASA and Army Missile Command.

(I have no idea why some of my pics are upside down?)

In a few weeks, me and a buddy of mine are taking the 55 to CO! The Tundra was fun, but we didn’t get to do all that I wanted.

We leave in 16 days and I’m working all this weekend…..

DONE:
-order parts
-oil change (5k miles!!)
-fix AC (burrrr)
-wire off road lights
-hook up electric seats
-measure for new rear DS

here is the to-do list:
-new headlights
-swap PS fluid resivoir
-heat pad on floor
-redo seat brackets
-housing swap/straighten
-hand throttle install
-Scan gage mount
-window channel rubber (driver)
-window gaskets (all)
-rear tire swing out (modify)
-double cardon rear shaft
-check all fluids

-pack tools
-RTT mount??

if time:
-window tint (shop)
-rear spring swap
-window washer sprayer
-wire lockers
-axle rebuild
-sliders
-skid plate for tank
-wire 02 resistor

Most of this stuff doesn’t “have” to be done now, but will make it better for the 3,500+ mile trip

Wow! Crazy good update!

What’s going on in Salida?
What river are you guys rafting/IK’ing on in those pics?
Who’s in the tub pic? Does she know she’s on ’MUD now?🤣

Good luck on knocking out the items on your list. Looking forward to seeing all this new stuff installed!🍻

@RUSH55

That’s my lady of 20 years. Marriage isn’t easy, but we’re still here. There’s only like 6 people in the 55 section/look at this thread, shell never know.

My life coach @Yukon Kit lives in Salida. He’s going to show us around for a few days and then we’ll head to San Juan’s solo or maybe meet some other CO cruisers there.

Is the Arkansas River in CO. Perfect trip.

Man, I tried making one of those bike shifters work on my 5.3 drive by wire, doesn't work. Great idea!
A 5.3 didn’t fit into my $5k pig budget. This raggedy old Toyota motor still has the drive by cable set up.

More than the disc brakes, more than the radio, more than new steering components, more than anything else that made the two county drives in the ‘69 better was this hand throttle. Has little clicks that hold it in place.

We are talking about 2,200 miles in 55 straight hours the first trip though!

Found some scrap steel that was perfect and made a little locker and light switch panel. The indicator lights are for when the elocker is fully actuated. I thought the pull knobs looked period correct in the cab.

I figured the 12v plugs would be a good fit at the back/bottom of the center console for fridge and back seat charging.

no pics, redid seat brackets.

I have always hated on roof top tents. The kind that are soft shell tent on top of your rig just seem like a pain in the ass, are harder to deal with, and keep the truck planted to that spot. I always said it might be useful with a lady and 2-3 weeks straight on the road…

…. I am going on a 8 day trip next week and a month long trip next summer….

…so I bought a 50% off scratch and dent new clam shell. It is pretty slick how it opens and closes in under a min, hard shell, and low profile. Worst case I hate it and sell it for a profit. This one is 60” wide and very spacious inside. It also jumped up and bit me in the face while getting it on top of the Pig.

IM AM OFFICIALLY OVERLANDED
