Looking good, always use protection! I like the square drive shaft how does it work for you?

What did you use to fab your rear bumper?

Davin is that you? If so, its good to have you in here  Albert can give you good advice to take your truck to a whole new level

Larry

X2 some nice quality hardware and good looking too. That square driveshaft sounds like an autolocker when he's on the trail.

Thanks guys. The square drive shaft works it's really strong and I don't have to worry about denting the tube but it sure makes a fair amount of noise. If I have to travel from the trail on a open area that I don't need 4wheel drive I will get out and unlock the hubs to cut down on the noise.

Sweet Albert... very sweet.

And the sound isn't that bad after you get past its similarity to metal grinding on metal... lol

me

doable, you are gonna own me at that expo lol! man i want to SAS my truck sooo bad! but dad wont ley right now

Yea right I'm so clumsy that I nor Scott can even get in the truck without hitting our head on the door opening. That should be a reflection on my driving also.

Man I heard that people were impressed with your smooth :steer: at the Expo..... Just wheel that IFS and enjoy the truck. The FJ that we wheeled with in Texas were all IFS and I could not believe where the went on the trails.

I was getting shown around Katemcy by a 1/2" tube buggy the first day there and we climb the BIG slab of rock and when we get to the top there is the FJ trail team infront of us. We get to talking and I asked them how they got up here and he said the same way I came  . Yes factory vehicle here I'm talking about. IFS and all lets just go wheeling what we got and enjoy.

Dude don't be so hard on you truck. that thing is massive and you where going around on paradise like it was a Single cab short wheelbase truck.

The SAS is nice, but your truck works better than most IFS trucks I have wheeled with.

he he he yall make me feel so good haha! i mean yeah im a good driver and all lol but it really wasnt hard... haha but i still wish my truck was solid front axle...

Hey Albert, I pulled my driveshaft apart @ Sicily Island last weekend and dented the hell out of it beating it against the frame till I noticed I no longer had 4wd for some reason. How much did you invest making your square driveshaft? I see one in my future very shortly.

that is a REALLY nice skid plate!

Bud @ Budbuilt does really good quality stuff. I have his skid plates on my FJC. He will sit and talk on the phone as long as you need him also. He and Metaltech have both earned my repeat business with customer service alone.

Well it's been a while. Because of my rear bumper which has good departure angle and a good point for recovery it does lack the area need for my license plate. The way it is on the truck now got me a little talk by the law because of not having a light illuminating it. Soooo time for a permanent fix.

Start with a donor tailgate

Then FBI (brandname) $19.00 license plate bracket with built in light

Ya'll know I like to cut sheet metal, die grinder to start the cuts and regular jig saw to keep the lines straight

Clean up the area of paint so the MIG machine can do it job

Set the machine on a low setting as not to burn through the light metal

Staggered my tack welds over the next hour so not to heat up and warp a straight tailgate.

I'm not done but you get the idea of it. Top and bottom are welded , will finish tacking the sides and paint to match and have no more worries about my license plate.

hey that is like a throwback to some of my high school days when there were plenty of low rider mini trucks that roamed this area.

that is some great work and very cool idea.
