I know yours is lower, I had to cut out a good section of my grill to clear my winch. Can't find a picture of it but I cut out the botom chrome bar, then black slats, and only have an inch or so before I would have to start trimming the second horisontal bar.

Edit: found the picture, not quite as close to the second bar as I am rembering.

Got bored with the 34: LTB's

Here is what happens when you get so frustrated with some 34" that will not balance. It's not like they will ride or shake any worse

Start with this

Then

And ended up with this.

Was it a waste of time ?? Sure was fun :)

Awe come on Albert yo can hack-em up better than that.

Sweeeeet play toy.

If you look at the pictures on the trail ride my MTR's also groved by the same tire iron.

I notice that when they were clean on the trailer :) Good work.

Once I grooved them (MTR's) at low pressure they tend not to slip as much under light throttle.Which is how I like to wheel . Now as soon as I say this next time ya'll see me I'll be spinning my tires like crazy :frown:

lol... I must say my first two thoughts were 1) My god! how long did that take... I'd have kids crawling all over the place who would need something by the time I finished 4 tires.. and (2). Those little grooves will be packed w/ mud if we have a day at Sicily like last time.... course boggers would be packed as well w/ that kinda mud

I still like em...sweet. Now get to welding something for us to look at!

As soon as I saw the iron I though you where going to be removing the smaller side lugs compleetly like you did with your boggers. You planning on using this set offroad now with the siping or was it really just because you where bored?

Nope to skinny for my taste to use offroad on trails because of the off camber stuff. But around here and on my dads land they will do good....... with the rainI can't do anything in the yard so yea the real reason is I was bored :hillbilly:.

Protection time

The brown truck showed up with a little armor for the Toyota today

100_0751.jpg

This is to help protect the Trans / T-case

100_0752.jpg

Also a the new steering arm to make sure I can turn with out binding up.All with FJ 80 tie rod ends

100_0659.jpg

Old on bottom new painted on top. I think it's thick enough

100_0663.jpg

Also some armor for the front and rear diff. With the front axle being cut and shaved I'll use the smaller one to protect the ring grear for now and the full size the the rear axle.

Is that the SKY pitman arm? Looks time to weld and paint, looks like fun.

Well here comes the snow ball effect . Since I'm using rear springs up front for the suspension it moved my axle forward about 2 1/2" which helped keep my tires out the the wheel wells. That was a good thing. But, with the factory pitman it would rub the crossover steering. If the axle was not moved forward the factory box and arm would work. Two or three choices here. 1st is to use aftermarket springs and keep the axle in the factory location which would let me use the factory box and not spend money on the arm.2nd is buy a bracket and move the box forward and keep the front suspension like it is. 3rd buy a different steering arm and leave everything else alone. All the combinations work it's which one I feel will last and preform best over time.To me there is no wrong way to build the front suspension but either way $$ will be spend on it. O.K. I'm off my rant now.

WOW now to answer question yea it's SKY's 3/4" less drop pitman arm. AND it will rub the frame with the steering box in the factory location.Compared to the factory arm I like the thickness. All the front steering now has FJ 80 tie rod ends on it.

Very nice Albert always enjoy watching your work. Looking forward to seeing it. :)

4-Sure that would be awesome and I sure would like too. Fact is I don't have the balls to ask the :princess: after just getting back from Houston yesterday with the 80 and laying the 40 on its side last week. Our anniversary is on the 4th so I'm trying to let the dust settle a bit if you know what I mean. I'm working on a list of 80 goodies right now to give to Scott incase she asks what she can get me.

One of the projects out of the way. Was able to get the skid plate installed tonight. It covers from the back of the T-case to the the flywheel.

From the end of the oil pan to the end of the T-case. Make me feel alot better about wheeling the automatic in the rocks
